After a extensive research, I decided to buy the Satechi Bluetooth FM Transmitter, mainly to reduce cables in my car and play audio via Bluetooth and FM. The unit also had a USB Power Supply, a useful feature that would supply juice to my iPhone 3Gs.

Setup was fairly easy.
Once you plug the device into the cigarette lighter, it automatically searches for a Bluetooth device. On my iPhone, it showed "Carkit". I entered the passcode (this is the only time I used the manual) and the connection was made. First thing I tried was playing music. I was impressed with the sound quality, like a good fm station. With excitement, I instantly called my wife. She said she could hear me clearly, like calling from my office landline.

However, her voice sounded very low even I turned the volume all the way up on my stereo. When I was losing all my hopes, I found out I can turn on the volume of Bluetooth sound via the volume buttons on the left hand side of the iPhone. I called my wife again and turned iPhone's volume all the way up, and voila! I could hear her nice and crisp now. Last thing I tried was charging my iPhone via the USB supply. Voila, again! :) It was charging my iPhone. This device met all my expectations.

One issue I realized after using the unit is that if you get a call and answer from your iPhone, the call goes to your iPhone instead of the Bluetooth device. However, if you answer the call using the answer button on the Bluetooth device, you get the call from Bluetooth. This bothered me a little bit. I made a research on the net and found that this is an issue that happened after the 3.0 update, nothing related to Satechi Bluetooth device.

Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase. Satechi Bluetooth FM Transmitter is a solid device with a reasonable price tag. I strongly recommend it to iPhone 3Gs owners.

Pros

-Make calls and listen to music wirelessly
-Good Fm reception
-Charges the iPhone 3Gs
-Didn't need it yet, but "aux in" can be used to plug other iPods

Cons

- Forward/skip Play/Pause buttons could be handy, but iPhone 3.0 software doesn't support them, yet anyways.
- I agree with another comment, external microphone would be nice.

V-Tech LS6245 DECT 6.0 Expandable Cordless Phone with Caler ID, Answering Device, and Bluetooth Capability (Black with Silver Trim) Review

V-Tech LS6245 DECT 6.0 Expandable Cordless Phone with Caler ID, Answering Device, and Bluetooth Capability
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've been in the market for a Bluetooth-enabled home phone for the past 10 months, but every review of such products has been more or less negative. I first caught a glimpse of this new phone at the the Engadget website [...] earlier in the year. After finding it at a local Fry's I purchased one with 3 extra handsets from Amazon. Here are my impressions after 3 days of use:

Things I Like:

1. Full soft-touch surface. No buttons, very nice styling. A key-lock activates after 10 seconds.
2. Speaker phone is loud and clear. Call quality is likewise loud and clear, but have to turn up the volume for cellular calls.
3. Separate buttons to make home and cellular phone calls.
4. Ability to join home and cellular calls into a 3-way conference.
5. Ability to make one home and one cellular call at the same time.
6. Different ringtones for incoming home and cellular calls allows you to differentiate between them immediately.
7. Automatic synchronization of the address book. You can add/edit the phone book entries on any handset (or base) and all handsets are synchronized immediately.
8. DECT 6.0 for minimal interference and good privacy.
9. Digital answering machine with all the requisite features (including access from another phone).
10. Price. I was expecting the base unit to cost at least $100. Extra handsets are only $39.95 at Amazon.

Features I Wish For:

1. Automatic download of phone book from cellular phones.
2. USB interface to synchronize phone book with PC/Mac.
3. Wall mount for the handset.
4. Ability to name each handset like "Kitchen", "Master Bedroom", "Garage", "Kid's Room", etc.Handsets are automatically named "Handset 1", "Handset 2", etc.
5. Night mode with ability to silence a subset of the handsets and lower the volume on others.

I still gave it 5 stars because of auto-synchronization and a feature set that is practical without being saddled by too many features (and complexity).

If you don't have your own office and/or you have co-workers who have a tendency of indiscriminately interrupting, pointing to flashing lights will effortlessly embarrass them into not interrupting you when you are on the phone! In my case I bought the light as a courtesy to my co-workers; I am the first one in the office to wear a headset and they were uncomfortable approaching me whenever I was wearing it.Now there is no question whether I am on the phone or not.Easy to install, plug into lifter and place for greatest visibility (cord is about 5 feet long, secure with screw or double stick "squares").

Panasonic KX-TG1062M DECT 6.0 Cordless/Corded Phone with Answering Machine With 4 Handsets Review

Panasonic KX-TG1062M DECT 6.0 Cordless/Corded Phone with Answering Machine With 4 Handsets
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Panasonic KX-TG106x (x = number of handsets included) phone system works very well, sound quality & volume are quite good. Batteries (uses 2) are a standard AAA rechargeable NiMh that can be upgraded from the included 630mah to Ray-O-Vac's 1000mah for under $11 (set of 4 batteries). With the 1000mah upgrade I get about a week of standard use between charges. Call blocking is fantastic, you can "input" up to 30 numbers you don't want to here from plus you can also select to block "private caller" or any other calls that do not contain an actual phone number. When a "blocked" call comes in, the phone will ring once (for caller ID information) then rejects call. On the receiving end the caller will get one ring then a busy signal. The only disappointment (although minor) is that you can not directly copy "phone book entries" between handsets, you have to send the "phone book" tothe base unit & then to the handsets. With a 100 entry phone book it is of more than adequate capacity. When the power goes out, the base reverts to a very basic telephone as there is no battery backup for advance functions such as caller ID or the answering machine. Range is very good at about 175'-200' from the base to place or receive phone calls. Along with remote message retrieval handsets allow erasing of messages. Both the main unit & charging bases are provisioned for wall mounting. With 15 user selectable ring tones & melodies to choose from most can find 1 that will meet their requirements. Simply put, I'm unaware of a more feature rich phone with this sound quality or capabilities.

AT&T 972 2-Line Speakerphone with Caller ID (Espresso) Review

Average Reviews:

Disappointed with this model -- it's been in use for about a year, during which I've found the speakephone to be fritzy and the handset to struggle to pick up my voice lound and clear unless I'm speaking *directly* into the pickup. But, this model fills a niche for home offices ... basic features without too many other bells and whistles.

Product Description:
A solidly crafted phone created with small businesses in mind, the AT&T 972 is an old-fashioned corded phone supplying a consistently reliable connection on up to two separate lines. The cord is the only old-fashioned feature about this model: it includes three-party conferencing, call waiting/caller ID compatibility (with subscription to local service) and external data ports that allow you to connect a fax or other office machine.
The 99-station caller ID log allows instant access for returning calls, and stamps every call with the date and time it was received. A built-in speakerphone and headset jack provide multiple options for hands-free operation, while the visual message indicator informs you about any waiting messages (with subscription to voicemail service). Uniden DECT 6.0 Black Cordless Telephone System with Interference Free Digital Technology (DECT3080-3) Review

Uniden DECT 6.0 Black Cordless Telephone System with Interference Free Digital Technology
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
(SEE UPDATE BELOW REVIEW)

I have used mostly Panasonic telephone systems in the past. This is my first Uniden product.I have used this telephone system for over 3 months.I have not had ANY drop-outs or "Out-Of-Range" errors that others have reported.I would assume that there may have been an early production line issue.I would be curious to see how others would have rated the phone if that issue were taken out of the equation.I have categorized my review features into Good, Bad and Ugly.

The GOOD:
-Terrific sound quality
-Stylish design
-Lightweight handsets
-Speakerphone feature on each handset
-Ability to add 3 extra handsets (6 total) simply by dropping them in the base for 5-10 seconds.
-Ability to customize the name of each handset for intercom ease-of-use
-Ability to page all handsets via intercom at once or one at a time
-Multiple ringers
-Organized menu interface and button icons
-Message indicator light on each handset
-Ability to check your messages from any handset
-Ability to send your address book entries to each of your handsets without re-entering them. The BAD:
-The handset will not turn on the back light of the display until it is taken off the charger. This makes it difficult to see who is calling until the handset is lifted off the charger and activates the back light
-Only a 2 digit code for answering machine message retrieval...not that secure
-Price
-The handset volume and speaker phone volume are very audible; however, I do tend to use the highest setting on both. It would be nice if there were a louder setting but I doubt anyone would complain the volume is not high enough.
-No talking Calling ID (though I have usually turned that feature off on my Panasonic phones because it gets annoying).
-No use of speaker phone with intercom. I'm not sure if there is a phone system that does this, but it would be a great feature (like a quick & easy baby monitor)The UGLY:
-I have two least favorite attributes of this phone system:

-There is the "extra" bottom row of buttons on the handset that have the same look and feel as the number buttons (This is the reason for the 4 star rating). Every other phone I have owned has the * key, 0 button and # key on the bottom. Or, if there are other buttons beneath this row, they look or feel very different or are spaced further down on the phone. This phone has another row of buttons directly beneath * key, 0 button and # key. This extra row of buttons is for redial, mute and speaker phone. Uniden should have made this row a different size or spaced it further down on the handset. When a telephone number has contains a zero (which is usually the button found on bottom center of a handset), it is too easy to hit the MUTE button instead since this is the bottom center button on this handset. This takes some acclimation.

-The answering machine recorder does not cut off when you pick up a phone that is not part of the Uniden system. For example, if someone is calling and you pick up another phone after several rings (a Panasonic phone on the same line for example) after the answering machine has already picked up, it will not cut off the answering machine recorder. You then need to manually delete a "message" of you talking to the person on the answering machine.

SUMMARY:
-I have not had ANY drop out issues reported by others
-If you can live with the "extra" row of buttons at the bottom of the handset and frequent need to delete "messages" of you talking to someone else on the answering machine, this is really a great looking and great performing telephone system. Overall, I would recommend it without hesitation.

UPDATE MARCH 2009:
For about a month, the handsets have developed an annoying problem. All 6 (the 3 original handsets from 3 expansion handsets) have randomly started resetting the time. After a while, one by one (never all at once), the handsets will reset the time to 12:00. I have tried resetting the time manually, unplugging and re-plugging in the battery and placing different handsets on different chargers. I have not lost power in the house and this problem occurs regardless of whether the handset is on the charger. There is no other power related issue. That is, the battery holds a charge fine for conversations. I am starting to think that there is some production run issue with my phones. I doubt it is a battery problem but that is where Uniden Customer Service wants to start. Uniden Customer Service is responsive, though their number was difficult to find: 800 297-1023. I would be interested if anyone else is having this issue with the handsets losing the correct time and randomly resetting to 12:00, especially those that have expanded the number of handsets.

UPDATE JULY 2009:
Uniden Customer Service came through and replaced the entire system with a new set free after we collectively could not figure out why the handsets were acting possessed. The replacement set has not exhibited the problem. I have really grown to like this phone and I even got another set. It seems Radio Shack had a unique version of this phone that came with 4 handsets. I got it on clearance for about $85. This new set has not exhibited the random time reset issue either. If anyone is experiencing this, I would recommend that you unpair and re-pair each handset to the base. I never tried this and it was not suggested by Uniden but, in retrospect, I bet it would have worked.

Kudos to Uniden for standing behind their products too!

I've only had this phone for about a month, but so far I really like it.What is so great for me is the icon showing the battery strength, no more guessing or having it "die" on me.The only problem I'm having so far is when I designate a certain ring for a certain person. That part doesn't seem to work. But for me it doesn't really matter.Reception is good, there doesn't seem to be static or interference.Nice size etc.

iHome iHC5 Wireless Bluetooth Clock Radio for Cell Phones, iPods, and MP3 Players
Average Reviews:

This is by far the best sounding alarm clock I've ever had, but if you're looking for an alarm clock, this is really not for you.

It's more of a sound system with the bluetooth thing for your phone. I love hooking my ipod up to it too.

It's not very user friendly though especially when you wake up to what sounds like a freaking bomb getting ready to explode and can't find the right button to hit to save your life since none of the dang buttons light up. It's a bummer that you either have to wake up to the radio or the buzzer (or time bomb as I like to call it) since you can't leave your ipod or cellphone on all right waiting to wake you up.

I'd rather have a CD player alarm clock...

Love the sound, absolutely hate the alarm clock.

Panasonic KX-TS105W Corded Speakerphone (White) Review

Panasonic KX-TS105W Corded Speakerphone
Average Reviews:

Nice well designed phone. Very easy to program. Takes 3 AA batteries for memory presets. I purchased two of these phones, one for my grandparents who promptly dropped the phone on the kitchen floor ejecting the batteries thereby erasing all the pre-programmed numbers that I had entered. Battery cover needs to be taped down to prevent this, as battery cover does not close well (Panasonic could have designed a better battery cover into this phone as they have with other models).
Phone has nicely sized buttons, loud ringer and well functioning speakerphone feature as well as a headset jack. Receiver cord is a bit short but can easily be replaced with a longer one. Will review again as the phones age.

There are a lot of reviews on this product, but I had to add mine. After lightning struck a tree next to our house, our neighbors suffered several appliance failures, including a blown TV. Ours, including our computer survived (plugged into one of these). More amazingly, the outlet this was plugged into blew out of the wall, frying the protector, the TV lost its color for 3 days, but then popped back inand we are still using it. Our electrician says, he's never seen anything like it, but he's recommending this surge protector now.

Plantronics Cordless Headset Phone (CT14) Review

Plantronics Cordless Headset Phone
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I received apparently one of the first Plantronics CT14 cordless headset telephones, and the bottom line is that there are no big surprises, which means I like the telephone given that I had high expectations in view of my previous experience with Plantronics quality. I did not have either of the previous models, CT12 or CT10, so I cannot compare to those. However at my office for a number of years I have been using a CS10 cordless headset system which works with a multi-line telephone, and I have become quite addicted to using a headset. Based on what I think is an objective test, the audio quality and volume of the CT14 are superb. The way I test that is to call my own voicemail and, during the same call, switch between various telephones while leaving a message. Then I listen to the recorded message, again switching among various telephones. That lets me hear the quality for myself, without relying on a person I am talking to for a report. One characteristic I am pleased to see included is that it is possible to chain dial from recorded numbers in the "phonebook." Thus, when I use a calling card with a 1-800 access number I can then access the PIN in the phonebook to have that dialed as well, followed by the number of the person I am calling. With some other telephones, after you have used the "phonebook" and the call is in progress, the directory scrolling keys change to a different function (e.g. volume) and all the remaining numbers must be dialed by hand. The only negative thing I have to say about the CT14 is that there is a higher level of background noise than I am accustomed to, which I suspect (but do not know for sure) is an inherent part of the DECT 6.0 technology which uses a single frequency band for both sides of the conversation, and uses time division duplex. So, digitally, a lot is going on behind the scenes, and I think I am hearing digital artifacts. This is mitigated somewhat because there is ample volume. So the volume can be turned down, which reduces the background noise, while still being able to hear the person on the other side. At some point I may compare to another DECT 6.0 telephone, or attempt to see what Plantronics has on this issue. (Update: I called Plantronics and a very pleasant rep assured me that the background noise I am hearing is not normal. The background should be quiet. He gave me an RMA number to send back the telephone for a replacement, but before I do that I am going to try the telephone someplace else. It is possible there is some sort of electrical interference unique to my house. Now that I finally have this telephone, I am very reluctant to part with it for any length of time. I really like it.) Earlier complaints regarding the predecessor CT12 concerned interference with Wi-Fi networks, and it seems clear that is not a problem with the CT14. The CT14 operates on a different frequency band (1920-1930 MHz versus 2400-2500 MHz), and that is an advertised feature of the CT14.

Casio Phonemate SI460 4-Line 12 Station System Telephone Review

Casio Phonemate SI460 4-Line 12 Station System Telephone
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Casio SI-460 is loaded with many excellent (and easy to set up)customizable features, but there are a few features that are notcustomizable that one should be aware of, as they may be important toyou:
1.It will not let you record different messages on differentlines. This is especially important if you want to record a differentmessage for your home and home office numbers or for different familymembers.
2.You can not choose the default outgoing line. For example,if you have different long distance services on different lines and want tocall from your second number, you have to manually choose it by pressingthe second number. This is an even bigger problem if you want to use theauto redial feature, as it will automatically dial from the first number. The only way around that is to put the first number on hold before youpress the auto redial button.
3. If you are using the speakerphone on theAuto Attendant Unit (the unit chosen to answer calls and to run the voicemail system) and a call comes in, it will not ring on that Unit and thecaller will hear a continuous recording saying "Hello.Thank you forcalling.Your call will be answered shortly." Unless you see thelight on the Unit light up or hear another extension, your caller willremain in limbo until you hang up the speakerphone.
4. You can not turnon the Auto Attendant, and hence the Voice Mail, remotely.

ATT1070 - Business Phone Sys.,w/CID/CW,4-Line,Expandable,BK/WE Review

ATT1070 - Business Phone Sys.,w/CID/CW,4-Line,Expandable,BK/WE
Average Reviews:

All features of this product are great, with the exception of one of the two primary reasons I bought it.I needed a 4 line speakerphone. The 4 lines work great, but the speakerphone hasn't worked on the original one I bought, then on the 2nd one I got when I returned the first faulty one.Apparently, the lack of a working speakerphone is a very common problem with this model with apparently no fix - so unfortunately, it is false advertising for AT&T to actually call this a "speakerphone".

GE 29451 4-Line Business Speakerphone with Intercom Review

GE 29451 4-Line Business Speakerphone with Intercom
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is one of the best consumer products I've purchased.I bought a large number of the previous version/model in 1995, and have upgraded to the 29451, which has the LCD/liquid crystal display, a better speakerphone, and a few extra functions. The amazing characteristic was its remarkable intercom function - just plug in the power and the phone line jack, and you have an instant intercom. There is also a "paging" system, or broadcasting function.Quick-dialing programming, redialing, conference calling, and call transferring ( to another phone within the office) all work flawlessly. The speakerphone is excellent, although you have to allow for the fact that reasonably-priced speakerphones are not "two-way" -- the microphone transmits speech only one direction at a time; if more than one participant speaks, the sound is blocked.

Product Description:
With four separate lines that each use a distinctive ring, the GE 29451 is an excellent phone for small businesses or busy home offices. Intercom capabilities between two stations make it easy for staff to communicate quickly, and three-way conference calling is available at the touch of a button. A generously sized LCD panel displays the time and length of individual calls--when not in use, the panel functions as a clock.
A speakerphone and hands-free dialing allow you to continue with other office chores while waiting on hold or finishing up a conversation; a headset jack is built in for ergonomic comfort. The speed-dial directory includes space for 32 entries of 32 digits each, which supplies plenty of room for frequently dialed phone card or overseas numbers. Also built in is a data port, which allows convenient connection of a fax, modem, or answering machine. The manufacturer includes a two-year warranty that covers parts and service.

Open House H619 Rj45 Telephone Interface Hub Review

Open House H619 Rj45 Telephone Interface Hub
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I built my own new home (didn't subcontract anything but cement and drywall). When I wired my house I bought a roll of cat5 cable for both a LAN and for phone.I use net2phone voip for my phone line so I came out of my "black box" and down to the hub then I share that with all the phone jacks in the house. My thought is that if I switch from cable internet to dsl I can configure the hub to have some jacks on the old "twisted pair" landline and some on voip. This hub will lend itself to do just that. This hub allows me to configure my phone system in the house many different ways with different feeds. Not much to go wrong here.I didn't recognize that this hub is setup for rj45 plugs not rj11.No big deal I just didn't see it in the description until later when I got it.

Panasonic KXTG4000B 2.4 GHz DSS 4-Line Cordless Phone with Caller ID and Voicemail Review

Panasonic KXTG4000B 2.4 GHz DSS 4-Line Cordless Phone with Caller ID and Voicemail
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this phone for my home office.I liked the ability to have access to all the lines (including my fax line) on one system. This system has excellent functionality based upon the attendant and call routing. It also has better range in our 4,500 sf house than the Siemens 2420 system, which only is only a two line phone (more later). This system has large programmable memory locations, intuitive interfaces on the extensions as well as the base station.
HOWEVER, the primary purpose for acquiring this phone was to use the base station as my primary office phone with the capability to roam throughout our three story house. As a base station, this system is severely lacking.Although the speaker phone is great, it has NO MUTE!If you participate in conference calls, you need a headset with a mute switch to have an offline discussion or even sneeze. Also, using two friends as guinea pigs, the sound quality was pitiful on two different units of this same model thinking it was a fluke. According to my unscientific testing, the sound quality of the cordless handsets was poor as well. Finally, the handsets are huge. While the antenna makes the range a little better, it is a large unit that makes me feel like I have a Motorola Brick phone next to my head.Ergonomics are not Panasonic's strong suit, but the lit keypad is nice for using in the dark (although I prefer doing other things than dialing someone while in the dark).
I tried these units in direct comparison to the Siemens 2420.I've never been a VTech fan and didn't even consider them. The Brother was too cumbersome so I excluded it too.So, based upon my personal, andtime consuming, experiences, I chose the Siemens because it had better sound and, of all things, a mute button for the base. The range of the Siemens compared to the Panasonic may not be great and I had to replace the NiMH with Li batteries, but taken as a whole I liked the Siemens better.
If Panasonic had put a mute button on the base of this system, I would have kept it in spite of the sound differences.Funny how one litte feature made my decision.

Product Description:
Give your small business or home the productivity-enhancing features of a business telephone system without the high price tag. The KX-TG4000B four-line cordless telephone system accommodates up to eight handsets, while the all-digital voice mail system with auto attendant can be occupied by up to four users simultaneously. And dual caller ID with call waiting lets you see who's calling on either line.
The KX-TG4000B base unit and each cordless handset communicate in both directions using 2.4 GHz frequency-hopping spread spectrum (FHSS) transmission. FHSS technology improves calling range and clarity, and eliminates crosstalk. Because it rapidly changes transmission frequencies within the 2.4 GHz bandwidth, this cordless system helps reduce the possibility of eavesdropping.
The KX-TG4000B operates via cordless transmissions, so no expensive (and messy) wiring or installation is required. Simply hook up the base to your phone lines and plug it into an AC outlet. Then, set up the included KX-TGA400B handset in the desired location and plug in the recharging stand. Up to seven more optional KX-TGA400B handsets can be added to the system.
The convenient, reliable, all-digital voice mail includes many advanced features. The KX-TG4000B offers a general delivery mailbox on the base unit, plus up to eight personal mailboxes--one for each handset. Each user can record a personal greeting, and can access individual mailboxes from any system handset or an outside line. You can set the voice mail system to automatically answer all incoming calls with a recorded greeting, and to route callers to a desired extension or mailbox. The KX-TG4000B allows for four separate voice paths, so four system users can access voice mail at once.
This phone system also includes a digital duplex speakerphone with an eight-step volume control. Digital circuitry in the base unit helps reduce echo and the dropout effect for more natural-sounding conversations.
Dual caller ID with call waiting lets you view the name and number of all incoming callers on either the base unit or handset LCD--even if you're already on the line. This caller ID feature also stores up to 50 names on the base unit (up to 30 names on each handset), with direct callback capability. And thanks to caller ID pager call, you can even program the phone to notify your pager when you've received an incoming call, and to forward caller ID data to your pager's display. (Subscription to caller ID services is required.)
Other features includetwo-way intercom/paging, lighted handset keypad, headset jack in the handset, and a belt clip. The handset offers up to eight hours of talk time and up to 96 hours of standby battery life.
