Never knew what "Skype" was until I bought another phone
at Wal-mart...and hooked it up and was able to make clear sounding call thru the interest for pennies a minute.
Later I wanted to be able to sit on the couch and talk so
I found this cordless iPhone by Linksys (a name I trust) and this is
cordless and I can talk anywhere, even has a speaker.

Altec Lansing T515 Portable Speaker for Stereo Bluetooth Phone Review

Altec Lansing T515 Portable Speaker for Stereo Bluetooth Phone
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was looking for both a desktop speaker and headset (for working out and general entertainment) for my Blackjack II music. After hours of headset comparisons I decided on one and then went on to find a desktop speaker and stumbled upon this Altec Lansing desktop/travel speaker with a detachable headset. There is a little door in between the speakers which holds a small unit into which you plug wired, very comfortable earphones (and I have small ears). The pairing is very easy and the sound is pretty impressive especially considering the size of the shiny black speaker unit.Right now I am listening to XM radio through the headphones and it sounds amazing.I am extremely impressed and I am very critical.By the way I did not order the other headset cause this does it all!!!Oh and it comes with this nice case which holds the speaker and earphones. The price on the box was $99. . .I got it for $34 plus shipping but it would have definately been worth the $99 as well!!:)

Product Description:
One of the first speaker systems developed for the convergence of music-enabled cell phones and wireless audio streaming, the Altec Lansing T515 combines three audio devices in one: a portable stereo system, a speaker phone, and a wearable headset. The system coordinates the devices in imaginative ways. Say you're wirelessly streaming your tunes from your phone to the T515 speaker or headset when a voice call rings in. With the touch of a button, you can pick up the call from the T515 as either a speakerphone or directly from your cell phone, leading the music to shut off automatically. Then, when your call is done, you can hit the same button and the music will return. And that's just one of the T515's many innovative functions.
The key to the T515's impressive versatility is the pendant, which wirelessly captures a stereo music stream from the cell phone using A2DP Bluetooth technology. Listeners have the option of removing the pendant and using it as a headset, as it includes a built-in microphone and earbuds, or they can simply turn their cell phones into first-class speakerphones for occasions when several people need to converse at once. Further, the pendant's AVRCP Bluetooth protocol allows two-way (back and forth) wireless communication between the phone and the T515. And should you want to control the speaker system from a distance, the pendant handles that, too, as it syncs up with your phone to create a wireless remote control.
Most importantly for music fans, the T515 produces high-quality, crystal-clear sound, with a unique orientation that boosts bass and stereo separation as well as overall volume. Other details include power and volume buttons along the top for easy fingertip adjustment; a lightweight, portable design with a carrying case for easy transport; a shielded design that prevents speaker buzz; a 3.5 mm auxiliary input and cable for connecting an MP3 player, iPod, or personal CD player; and a seven-hour battery life using four AAA batteries (included). The T515, which measures 7.5 by 3 by 2.4 inches (W x H x D), is backed by a one-year warranty.
What's in the Box
Speaker/dock, wireless pendant headset, earbuds, four AAA batteries, AC adapter, line-in cord, USB charging cable, user's manual.

Apple M8799LL/A AirPort Extreme Base Station with Modem and Antenna Port Review

Apple M8799LL/A AirPort Extreme Base Station with Modem and Antenna Port
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Got this primarily so we could work anywhere in the house on our PC laptops. Granted, a Linksys wireless router would have been cheaper, but the Airport Extreme also serves as a wireless print server and that (plus the fact that our primary computer is a Mac) was what sealed the deal for us. Our cabling setup is:
Cable modem -> Linksys Wired 4-Port Router -> Airport Extreme -> Lexmark Optra E312L

Our laptops use Linksys Wireless-G cards and get good reception throughout the house. Our G4 and PS2 are hooked directly into the wired Linksys Router for their connectivity. The trick to using it with an existing router is to turn off the NAT addressing feature of the Airport Extreme so that it acts only as an Ethernet "bridge" to the wireless computers; the Linksys router assigns all the IP addresses for everything on the system including the PC laptops. The PCs can print wirelessly to the laser printer via the Airport and so can the Mac. Bonus!

Setup was very quick - about 15 minutes to get everything plugged in. The hard part was getting the security set up correctly (and yes, you'd better secure your wireless network) as the format for passwords was different on the Mac vs. PC platforms. Had to do some Web searches to find out how to make them speak the same language (hex). Has worked flawlessly since then. If I had to do it over, would buy it again in a heartbeat.

The Base Station can be used in conjunction with an Ethernet connection (such as with a cable modem, DSL modem, or Ethernet network) through the integrated Ethernet port, or with a telephone line through a modem.
The AirPort Extreme Base Station with Modem and Antenna Port also supports USB or Ethernet wireless printer sharing. Just plug in a compatible USB or Ethernet printer and with Mac OS X on your computer you can quickly and easily print. You can use the new USB port to attach a USB printer or use the 10/100BASE-T Ethernet LAN port to plug in an Ethernet printer directly into the base station.
With the new AirPort Extreme Base Station with Modem and Antenna Port, up to 50 users can work and play on the Internet simultaneously up to 150 feet away from an Ethernet connection or a phone line. VTech DS6322-3 - Cordless phone w/ call waiting caller ID & answering system - DECT 6.0 + 2 additional handset(s)
Average Reviews:

I got the version of this phone that comes with 4 handsets instead of 3 (DS36322-4).My main reason for the purchase was that you can link your cell phone to it through bluetooth. This feature works well.I no longer need to carry my cell phone around the house. It has a custom ring and a visual display to let you know if it's your land line or your cell phone that is ringing.I was also able to easily download my cell phone address book so I can make calls through the vtech handset.Calls are crystal clear.Battery life seems good.

Sadly, the good news stops there. As another reviewer mentioned, you can't rename the handsets. That means if you want to page another handset, you need to know which one by #.You also can't do a broadcast page to all handsets (despite being called "intercom").Also, you can't customize the ringer by time of day. With my old phone system, for example, you could set the handset in the bedroom to automatically not ring at night. The menu options aren't very intuitive.I've had to refer to the manual many times.

The problems are easy things to fix.I would have easily given the phone 5 stars if the annoyances weren't there.I can only assume that vtech hasn't done any consumer testing or listened to any feedback.

AT&T EL42308 5.8 GHz Cordless Phone with Three Handsets and Answering System Review

AT&T EL42308 5.8 GHz Cordless Phone with Three Handsets and Answering System
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I spent lots of time researching this phone (although the package I bought came with 4 phones total, as opposed to 3), and I had very high hopes. I needed a good, loud cordless phone because my husband is in Iraq and his calls are sometimes very hard to hear on my old cordless. I've seen lots of mixed reviews about this phone, but I took a chance on it - and I just want to say I love it!! It's super loud ringing, and I can hear my husband(and others) loud and clear. I have the extra handsets sprinkled all over the house so I never have to make a mad dash to the phone again. My ONLY complaints are minor. They lack the "heft" that I like my phones to have, and the bases that the extra handsets charge in are a *little* flimsy, but overall I am very happy!

Product Description:
The AT&T EL42308 5.8 GHz Cordless Phone with Three Handsets and Answering System features 5.8 GHz analog technology and a built-in digital answering system. By utilizing the 5.8 GHz spectrum, the EL42308 has better sound quality, enhanced range, and increased security compared to phones that operate on a lower bandwidth, such as 2.4 GHz. The EL42308 includes three handsets (along with a base and two charging cradles) that allows you to use all three handsets through a single phone jack. You can transfer a call from one handset to another. The phone features a 30 entry phonebook directory and has a lighted keypad and display. The EL42208 is caller ID and call waiting capable, with a 30 name/number caller ID history. An indicator tells you when you have a new call and when you have missed one.
A built-in digital answering machine system records messages on microchips for reliable performance, instant access to messages, and the ability to selectively save and delete messages. The answering machine features enough memory for 11 minutes of recording time, and a message time/day stamp lets you know when the missed message was received. The phone is table and wall mountable for placement flexibility.

I am quite pleased with this phone.I have had it a few months now and I have not had any problems.I had looked at buying this phone on eBay, but I found it at the same price here on Amazon (once you figure shipping and everything). The sound quality is very clear, and the range is quite good.It does not interfere with my wireless 802.11g network at all.I have only a few complaints. The buttons on the base station are small and not laid out too intuitively. You have to clear the Caller ID info on the handset(s) and the base station individually. And the ringer on the base station has 3 settings; Annoying, Very annoying, and Off (The handset ringers are pretty good though). The battery life so far has been fine.I like that you can transfer phonebooks between the handset and the base station, and that you can check messages from the base station or the handset.I researched quite a few 5.8GHz phones, including all of the similar Panasonics, most of the Motorolas, and a few of the VTechs. And this family of Uniden phones (there are 2 handset and 3 handset versions also) seemed to be the best.

Actiontec VoSKY Skype Call Center ( USB07051C-01 ) Review

Actiontec VoSKY Skype Call Center
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a must have, if you like skype. I never liked the pc calls in the early days due to the voice drops and the choppy sounds. But ever since skype came on to the scene, it has been a great experience. The voice quality is unbelievable. I have my folks from India calling me (I am located in US) from their PC using skype. Best of all it is free for me, as the internet connectivity is broadband for both my parents and me, so we can talk for ever without any per minutecharges to the telecommunication company.

One issue with skype was that I am kind of tethered to the PC.
Well, not any more. With the vosky call center, I am no where near my PC. Infact I use skype from my mobile phone these days.
(see it is free after night and weekends for both incoming and outgoing calls). You might be thinking I have some of those fancy paid skype services such as skypein and skype out. Well No, nada. What makes it possible is this little product.
The setup is fairly simple. It has just three outlets. The telephone line goes to one of them. The other outlet connects to the telephone. The third one is a USB port which goes to the PC (with windows xp). I keep the PC always on with skype connected with my account. Now, I have setup all my family and friends with speed dialing numbers such as 1, 2 etc. Now all I have to call them from my regular phone is ##1.
Also dialing ## takes me to this vosky call center exchange. I can call any of my contacts with the preset speed dial numbers I have setup. Also, I can call from my mobile phone to my home phone number and access my callcenter(like those answering systems - password protected). Another cool feature is that I can put a wakeup call on any phones, whenever my contacts become online. So I do not have to setup a ren de vouz with my parents for a prearranged time for the PC calls. All they have to do is call my skype account, and my regular phone will ring. Also, from my phone, I can call my skype contact, and if they are offline, it gives me an option to
altert me when they become on line. So as soon as my parents sign in, I get alerted on my phone(or mobile).

Also, my PC has VPN, skype and call center software works in both mode. So thats is great too. Also, when the PC is off, my regular phone works as before.

Also you have the option to setup an answering system, which will route all calls to your PC as audio files.

Do not waste time buying USB phone/mic/speakers etc, when you can use your regular phone, anywhere, anytime.
I will post some pictures of my setup on www.emindshop.com

Xlink Cell Battery Gateway Review

Xlink Cell Battery Gateway
Average Reviews:

I bought this to eliminate my house land line.Once the land line was shut off (number transferred to another cell phone, always positioned next to the XLNK), I ran the phone cord from the wall to the XLNK.Then, all the phones in the house (wired or wireless) called out and answered the cell phone. The kitchen phone has an answering machine, and that answering machine picks up - not the cell phone voicemail. (which is the way we wanted it).

Here's the problem.Calling out from a house phone to the bank or some other number that requires additional numbers to be dialed after you connect. You know, 2 for English, that kind of thing. The additional numbers dialed on any of the house phones do not "take" - I have to run over to the connected cell phone and press them in there to get them to work.I contacted the manufacturer, and they knew about the problem, but had no solution.

Be sure to get the model that works both with and without a land line - If we add a security system, we'll have to get a land line again, and I'd still like it to work. The $10 cheaper model only works WITHOUT a live land line.

Average Reviews:

Living in the Bay Area you would expect ADT and Bay Alarm to be one of the best deals since they are the main players but !ADT tried to screw me for $1900 for a third rate system ! Never will I ever recommend ADT again ! Worst ever !Bay Alarm was not bad for the price but customer service was sub par.

What I learned is that there are 2 basic systems Honeywell (lynx) is pretty good but VERY hard to programOR GE Simon XTwhich is VERY user friendly and easy to program. You can search youtube for videos and ebay for the deals but then it boils down to Monitoring.

Both Systems you can use the land-line to call to check on the system statue but If the Burglar cuts the line or power goes out your screwed. Go with Cellularthey can't cut the phone line !

Monitoring ... you can go without paying on both but they what's the point,That is my point and why I went with FrontPointSecurity.

Their monitoring is interactive. I can check on my cell or internet oh how my house is doing @ ANYTIME !Other companies charge you an arm and leg for this feature.

Bottom line, GE Simon XT is a great system to install, Battery backup can be Mod. to add more batteries (daisy chained for longer backup power)Can use both Landline and Cellular for interaction and ALL wireless !Peace of Mind !

Uniden TRU5885-2 5.8 GHz Cordless Phone with Caller ID, Answering System, and Dual Handsets Review

Uniden TRU5885-2 5.8 GHz Cordless Phone with Caller ID, Answering System, and Dual Handsets
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After trying AT&T, Siemens, and Uniden, this one is the best. I had been using a Siemens Gigaset 2400 system for the past few years and it quit working so I embarked on a quest to find the perfect new cordless multihandset w/answering machine phone system.
First, I brought home the AT&T 5480 5.8GHz system. I really wanted to like this phone. I liked the 3 mailboxes, something most other phones lack. I loved the simple intuitive design, but it suffers from some drawbacks: it was the most expensive of the three, has separate phonebooks on each handset, the recorded messages are recorded at a very low volume, cannot access messages from handsets only the base, and the Call ID logs must be cleared individually from each handset as well as the base unit. But worst of all, the range was terrible. When using either handset from a back room in the house, the sound would cut in and out making it's use near impossible.
Next I tried the latest 2.4GHz system from Siemens. The answering machine is now included in the handset, not on the base. This made using the phone very confusing and difficult for my wife, also there is no plug for using a headset. Back it went.
Then I brought home the Uniden TRU5885-2. I like the high tech looks of the phone but my wife did not, it is a bit "techy" for her tastes. The good: The range is excellent and sound is very clear from anywhere in the house. Messages can be retrieved from the base or a handset. Distinctive ring tones can be assigned to stored phone numbers, this is a nice feature and usefull at times like dinner when you would rather let the answering machine get the call unless it is from someone important. Can store up to 10 speed dial numbers accessible by pressing and holding a number 0-9 (the other phones do not have this). Areas for improvement: button layout and use is a bit confusing (especially for my wife) but you get used to it after a few days. Uniden could learn a few things in this area by looking at the Siemens or AT&T phone's menu system. Separate phonebooks and Call ID logs on the handsets, why? You should not have to enter stored phone numbers twice, it gets very tedious and time consuming. Should have the option to delete the Call ID logs fromindividual or all handsets.Ringer volume needs more settings, can only choose off, low or high. Needs more and/or better choices for ring tones, some of the included ones are just plain annoying. Would like to see downloadable tones made available, just like on my cell phone. Lastly, I would like to see anindicator on the display showing the amount of charge in the battery.
Overall, this is currently the best of the multihandset answering machine cordless phone systems and the one I am keeping.

Product Description:
Note: The Uniden TRU5885-2 is no longer being manufactured. You may want to consider purchasing instead the newer Uniden TRU8885-2 5.8 GHz Digital Cordless Phone with Dual Handsets and Answering System.
Some of us need much more from our phones than just a little redial button. Sometimes a flash feature simply isn't enough. For users who demand extensive features, Uniden's TRU5885-2 delivers. Functioning at a quiet, nearly interference-free 5.8 GHz, the two handsets use digital spread spectrum transmission for exceptional range and minimal static. The three-line handset LCDs work in conjunction with caller ID services, storing 100 names and numbers in addition to the speed-dial presets.
The dual speakerphones (both on the handsets and base) let you talk hands-free or get the whole family in on the conversation. The phone also features an integrated digital answering machine with all the features you'd expect, like remote message check. And yes, the phone does feature the basics, like flash, pause, hold, and redial with memory storage of the last three numbers dialed. In addition, you can dial either from the handsets or from the base. Note that this phone is not expandable beyond the two included handsets and chargers. NiMH batteries and a one-year warranty are included.

Uniden DXAI5588-2 5.8 GHz Analog Cordless Phone with Dual Handsets (Silver and Black) Review

Uniden DXAI5588-2 5.8 GHz Analog Cordless Phone with Dual Handsets
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This phone does not deserve one star, it deserves ZERO. The phone only works for 55 to 60 seconds before the call is cut off. Studied the manual, re-registered the handsets, changed channels and security codes, the works. Called tech support, and they say it must be interference from electronics nearby. Our old phones worked just fine sitting on top of the computer hutch and within a few feet of the microwave (which is where the jacks are, so we had no choice), so why couldn't these? They suggested another room. Ridiculous that we can't have a phone in the family room or kitchen, but we tried it. Didn't work in the bedroom, either. Of course not, there's a CLOCK in there!!! Seems like the phone thinks it's too far from the base (even when you are standing right next to it). Absolutely worthless. I sure hope Home Depot takes this load of junk back! Never again will I buy ANYTHING without checking reviews first, no matter how good the sale price!

Product Description:
A two-handset cordless phone system from Uniden, the DXAI5588-2 delivers a high level of signal clarity and comes loaded with features. By utilizing the 5.8 GHz frequency, this model can offer significantly greater range and clarity than many 900 MHz and 2.4 GHz phones. Caller ID and call waiting compatible, the DXAI5588-2 has a 30-number caller ID memory, as well as a 10 number speed dial for your most important numbers.
You can easily access the phone's features via the handset LCD, and dialing a displayed number is as easy as pressing the talk button. A page button helps you to find a misplaced handset, and you can switch between tone and pulse dialing modes easily. Handset and ringer controls let you adjust volume levels to your liking, while headset compatibility gives you the option of hands-free communication.
A low-battery indicator lets you know when to return the handset to its cradle for recharging, and a handset-to-handset call transfer feature allows you to route incoming calls to the other handset location. A built-in digital answering system provides up to 13 minutes of recording time, with a selectable 1 or 4-minute maximum message length. Memo recording allows you to record messages and notes for later recall, while remote message check lets you stay on top of messages, even while you are away from home. The DXAI5588-2 is also wall-mountable, providing you with extra placement options. This phone comes backed with a one-year limited warranty.

Panasonic KX-FL501 Plain-Paper Laser Fax/copy Machine Review

Panasonic KX-FL501 Plain-Paper Laser Fax/copy Machine
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
It performs reasonably well.It can be fussy about feeding multiple pages to send, so it's generally best to feed them through one at a time. That's really a pity, because the quick-scan feature, when it works, is total gold.

But the toner.Oh, god, the toner.

I'm used to laser printers whining at me on the message display about low or "out" toner, and I'm just as used to ignoring them. The helpful people at Panasonic have decided that they don't like people ignoring those messages, so they include a pleasant beep. And when I say "pleasant", I mean it gives me nightmares. When the time comes for the machine to be replaced (and it will come, oh yes, it will come), I may run an extension cord outside so it can actually be actively beeping as I go Office Space on it.

Anyway, toner. To guard against the possibility of someone with super-human will tuning out the beeping (or perhaps to guard against the deaf), they also have included a helpful print out.On this print out are several large bars of varying shades, designed, presumably, to illustrate visually to you exactly how low your toner is.

I have never seen this page print in anything but a perfect, pristine manner. The bars are wonderful in their consistency, with nary a hint of lightness. While this would be an excellent demo of print quality, as a notification that the toner is low, I must admit to some confusion. It's *perfect*.It *never prints light*.So as far as I can tell, the only function it actually serves is to *use more toner*.Quite a bit of toner, consideringthe large black and near-black bars.

In amusing phone conversations with Panasonic, I've determined that either A) there is no way to disable this helpful function or B) there is, but they require a more substantial bribe than I've offered to offset their loss in toner revenue.

It gets better.

After it's printed two or three of these frame-worthy gems over the course of a week, it decides to play hard ball. Now it claims that the toner is gone.Out.No toner remains. This is communicated in two ways. One, the beep.Only this time it's incessant. The beep just goes on and on until you replace the toner, unplug the machine, or throw it out the window (and perhaps even then). It also...*prints out a notice*.That's right, you read that correctly; to inform you that there is no toner, it *uses toner*.I'm sure you've guessed the best part already - this notice, like the joyous banners of greyscale earlier, also prints perfectly. It's never been even a little light.

Now we engage in a little off-broadway production for the benefit of the fax machine."Ahh, pity," we say, opening the machine and removing the toner unit."We're out of toner.Guess I'll have to get more toner.I'll just open this package over here," we continue, as one of us makes crinkling noises in the background, and the other grimly shakes the toner unit from side to side."Ah, good, I'll just pop that in, then," we say, winking, as we remove the toner drum, whisper an incantation over it, and pop it back in."Whew, good as new.I'm sure glad we don't have to worry about any light printing thanks to the Panasonic engineers," we shout with glee, as we put the toner unit back in and close it up.

If we've said the incantations correctly, the fax machine accepts our tribute and pretends everything is ok for a couple days, when the process is then repeated.Usually we perform the ritual twice successfully before it tires of our blandishments and insists the toner is out, despite the repeated evidence of our eyes.At this point we surrender to its whims and put a new drum unit in.

We lived with it...until we upgraded to the KX-FL511, which works *exactly the same way*, except it is much better at scanning in multiple pages unattended.

WIREVO WHITE BLUETOOTH STEREO ADAPTER
I bought this Bluetooth Stereo Adapter for my Ipod at Compusa store closing sale for 14.99 hoping it will work and it did. I already had my Jabra BT620s headphones that I also bought at Compusa for 29.99. It works with all the function of my headphones, charges itself and the Ipod at the same time. Vtech DS3111-2 DECT 6.0 2-Handset Cordless Phone With Caller ID & Speakerphone

This is not review of the product but rather the seller: Action Packaged, Inc.If you are considering buying this item, be aware of the S&H.In this case it's $29.99 and it takes a couple of weeks. If this was FedEx or USPS overnight-OK, but that is not specified.Nor is there an option for shipping made clear.IMHO a reasonable S&H should be in the ballpark of $12.And that would be for USPS Priority Mail + handling fee.
May be a good product, but I wouldn't buy it from this seller.
