(More customer reviews)I purchased this cordless phone as a precurser to ditching my landline and adding an inexpensive additional line of service on my cellular family plan.The AT&T cordless phone seem well built.However there are some issues that a person needs to be aware of.

1) No way to turn the warning message "No home line" off.Well duh, there is no home line if I ditch my landline.So there should be a way to disable that message.

2) The caller ID NUMBER passes from the cell phone to the AT&T cordless phone, but not the NAME.

3) Random disconnects of the pairing.I use an iPhone 3GS, and it would not always automatically link up and I would have to re pair the the devices.

4) The center select button on the handset is just that, just select.The separate up/down buttons are not as intuitive as they also have other functions.

For positives:

1) Excellent audio quality through the cell phone.

2) Excellent range.

3) Ease of use.

for me, the cons outweighed the pros, and I have opted to return the unit and wait for a more mature device to come out.

(More customer reviews)I searched a year ago for a home cordless phone/answering system all in one to take the place of my somewhat outdated cordless phones and separate answering machine.Looked at many models and finally settled on the Panasonic KX-TG2700 series.I am impressed, and my family loves it.Yes, we still have the old corded standby for power outages, but these phones have worked well for 2 years now, and I bought a second system for my home office with 2 line capability.Then found an add on handset/clock radio to reduce the clutter on my nightstand.So, has lots of good functions, and everyone has one in their room and me in my office and by my bed.Only complaint was the battery life - very poor.I use the speakerphone feature in my office for conference calls and was always having to revert to the corded model to complete the call.Told Panasonic about this and the only response was to ship me a new battery, which I charged just as they stated.But poor battery design.So I did a little research and found Eveready made an Energizer battery that supposedly cured the problem.I bought a box from an on line retailer and replaced all the handset batteries, one by one, charging each as the phone instructions said.WORKS GREAT!!Batteries are sold by Technuity, Inc. and are model ER-P511.Now my phones have been in operation for over a year with these batteries and never lost a charge or cut my call off.If you find a good deal on this phone, go for it now before they sell out.Really good to use and easy to learn.I even have a door paging system/doorbell hooked up to the phone line and these phones do a great job when I use this for door intercom.And the bedside clock radio works great, sounds great for a clock radio.Panasonic got the design right - they look a little clunky, but work great.The reason I'm writing this is I'm looking for a couple more handsets before they phase out this phone.Not ready to go 5.8 gig yet.By the way, wireless modems have problems with cordless phones so we're still in the wired mode around here for the internet connection.

56K USB Modem Windows Mac Linux Review

(More customer reviews)This USB modem works well with Mac OS X Leopard for web surfing, however the installation guide is not up to date for OS X 10.5.6 Leopardusers. I had to figure out on my own how to install it. If you have OS X 10.5.6 or later do this:
for STEP THREE: INSTALL THE MODEM DRIVER MAC OS X 10.4.3 OR LATER
complete steps 1 through 5 then click on the ADVANCED button. Then do step 6, select the modem tab, in VENDOR select other, in MODEL select USRobotics 56K USB modem. Check Enable error correction and compression in modem. In Dial Mode select "Wait for Dial tone before dialing" in drop down menu. Set Dialing to Tone and Sound to On or Off. Click OK.

Once I did this I was able to connect to the internet using AOL. In fact I am writing this review on a macbook with the USR5637 and AOL.
Unlike the Apple USB modem this one comes with a thick telephone cable. The performance is good, it seems to speed up surfing a little bit. I bought this from Amazon and am pleased with the results so far.

D-Link Skype USB Phone Adapter Review

(More customer reviews)I just got this from BEST BUY and the price was same as Amazon ($60), for now. I went out looking for a USB Skype Phone and bumped into this one and bought it right away. I am very pleased with this product and my purchase and would highly recommend it and here is why.

I have both SkypeIn (allows you to have a phone no. of your choice for 30 Euros, approx US$ 38, per YEAR.) and SkypeOut (allows you to call any phone in the world much like a prepaid phone card) and I wanted to be able to use Skype away from my PC/Laptop so that I was not "tied" to one place in my apartment. So I started looking into USB Skype phones. A good one with a cord costs around $ 40 and a good cordless one costs $ 80 (I am referring to the one from Linksys and that one doesn't have the best reviews in the world so I was bit skeptical). Now for $ 60, this adapter plugs right into your USB port and allows you to use any good old phone (corded or cordless) with Skype. It doesn't need any separate power supply and is a nice little self contained unit.

Installation was a breeze and took less than 2 minutes and no computer reboot was necessary. I fired up Skype and plugged in a old corded phone and was good to go!! I made and received calls via Skype using my old phone and the voice quality was great. Next, I tried a cordless phone and it worked great too. So now I have a wireless Skype phone and I am very pleased with it. Not to mention I am putting my old discarded phones to good use now.

You can use the same phone for both Skype and your regular phone line if you want to but since I got rid of my landline phone long time back I couldn't try that feature. So I can't speak for that part. The manual does say that it's possible. Overall, I would highly recommend this if you are looking to go wireless with Skype using your good old cordless phones or just want to have the convenience of using a corded phone away from your PC. Believe me, even if you have WiFi in your place you would still want this. I have WiFi but I would rather use a cordless phone to talk on Skype out on my deck rather than lug a laptop and a headset out with me. I think most of you would agreewith me on that one. Also, Skype website has similar adapters for a little less money ($ 10 less I think), so you can check those out as well if you like. I was familiar with the D-Link brand name from before compared to the brands on Skype so I went in for this one.

(More customer reviews)My Rio Receiver plays music flawlessly, I admit.And to have a 10 Watt amp built in is brilliance (10 watts, by the way, is plenty for the average person, but won't do for a big party or large room - get a real amp and plug in to the rca jacks).
There are sub-optimal realizations in the brilliance, and I think this is why the product is being discontinued.The device relies on software running on a computer and that computer, if not stand-alone with no security, must be logged in and running the program.The software driving the device has never been updated and is orphaned now that the product is discontinued.The software also can not play an album in album order.It plays everything in alphabetic order.Big problem when you listen to an album that has an order to it (Pink Floyd - The Wall, or Classical movements, etc).
The makers discontinued the product too soon, in my mind.If they had analyzed the competitor's product they could have adjusted and put out a new version of software.This type of device has a place in the home and the market is JUST STARTING to emerge.I 'ripped' over four hundred CD's onto my hard drive and am sold on the technology.No more fumbling with cases and putting things back when done playing them - rip 'em once and then just select the album and push play.Put the CD in a safe place, though, hard drives can crash.
I like the box, but since it is discontinued I would guide anyone looking for MP3/WMA playback to look at AudioTron from TurtleBeach.They continue to modify the unit and have 'got it right' when it comes to the implementation.

The Rio Digital Audio Receiver streams music directly from your PC to any room in your house via existing phone lines through a home phoneline network (PNA) or via an Ethernet network. It works with your existing speakers and stereo setup to transfer MP3 and WMA files at up to 10 megabits per second without interrupting the regular use of your phone line. The receiver can simultaneously stream different music selections to different rooms wherever an additional receiver is located.
The Rio Receiver features a large LCD display that shows song, album, and artist name, bit rate, and total playing time. Play functions include play, pause, stop, fast forward, and reverse within a song, and skipping backward and forward as well as repeat and random. The Rio Receiver also comes with a remote control.
You can sort music by artist, title, album, or genre and then customize the Rio Receiver's interface to view your playlists. It is compatible with existing digital audio software such as RealNetworks Jukebox and MusicMatch Jukebox.
Using a standard telephone line, the Rio Receiver operates on a separate frequency from your telephone or modem, allowing you to use your telephone line normally without interference from your Rio Receiver. The receiver requires connection to a home PNA from your PC, or use of the included Rio Digital Audio Connector PCI card installed into your PC.
The Rio Receiver also supports 10 Mbps Ethernet. You can connect the receiver to your existing Ethernet hub with a standard Category 5 Ethernet cable, or directly to a host computer using an Ethernet crossover cable.
The Rio Receiver requires a desktop PC running Windows 98, 98SE, 2000, or Me on an Intel Pentium MMX with 200 MHz processor at minimum. You can connect the Rio Receiver into a stereo system via RCA jack connection. It also has an integrated amplifier that allows the Rio Receiver to act as a stand-alone component using external speakers (either bare-wire bookshelf speakers or powered speakers with a 1/8-inch jack).
Included with the receiver is the Rio Digital Audio Remote, a 15-foot standard phone cord, a 6-foot standard phone cord, a 6-foot RCA cable, and a software installation CD-ROM that includes the Audio Receiver Manager software. Overall, my son really likes his phone and it takes good pictures.He says the number 7 button sticks a little now but, the phone still works well.
