Average Reviews:

I bought this phone for one reason and one reason only: call blocking.I was excited when I found Panasonic offered a phone with this feature as our previous Panasonic phone worked quite well (but no call blocking feature). This phone absolutely has call blocking. What Panasonic doesn't tell you upfront is that the phone will ring once before being blocked. That significant detail is buried in the specifics of the manual. Not so bad you might think? Not so.The blocking feature sends a busy signal back to the automated dialing system. The automated dialing system doing the calling instantly thinks "Ah-hah, someone home".It promptly schedules another call in 5 minutes. And so on every 5 minutes for about 40 minutes before finally giving up! I can't believe Panasonic is unaware of this. And if, as my wife noted, the phone needs time to process the caller ID information, I'd far rather it blocked the first ring of every call vs. this.

Panasonic KX-TG4023N DECT 6.0 PLUS Expandable Digital Cordless Answering System with 3 Handsets Review

Panasonic KX-TG4023N DECT 6.0 PLUS Expandable Digital Cordless Answering System with 3 Handsets
Average Reviews:

I bought this to replace an old 5.8 system with poor range.

Initial impressions:

Pros: Good price, clear sound.

Cons: No speed dial, no button to dial phone service voicemail number, screen is small, only way to tell you have a phone service voicemail is a small line on the screen. The latter means you cannot tell from across the room if you have a voicemail from your phone service-you have to pick up the phone and look at it.

Came back as I've discovered more. It is definitely going back.

The voice mail indicator does not come on until after you hit the talk button. Also, the missed call indicator goes out as soon as you put the phone back in the charger. These must be defects.

Other things I do not like: there is no way I've found to change the volume on the ringer on the base station. Also, changing volume on each handset requires a laborious trip through the menu system.

Uniden DECT 6.0 Corded/Cordless Digital Answering System with Three Cordless Handsets
Average Reviews:

All in all a good product.Solid, durable, no major flaws.

The call block feature is better than several other phones, other phones ring once then block the call. This one suppresses the first ring, so no sound until caller id is shown. So blocked calls are just silent.Nice.

The base will work with a power outage!+++

Speaker phone good.

Some of the reasons for 4 rather than 5 stars:

Quirk 1.When you page a handset from a handset (the "find it under the couch function") the handset you are holding rings (LOUD) as well.I have to stick the #*&*^!! thing under my arm so I can locate the missing handset. No reason to have the one your holding screaming!

Quirk 2.When you are using speaker phone on a handset, if you press talk (most phones you go to non-speaker phone handset) you just activated call waiting or hung up on your party. The base works like "normal" phones.

As the negative reviewer noted:There are several other quirks, all livable, all a pain. But the competition I checked had their own bugs.

Vtech Expandable 4-Handset Cordless Phone with Digital Answering System and Cellular Bluetooth Connection Review

Vtech Expandable 4-Handset Cordless Phone with Digital Answering System and Cellular Bluetooth Connection
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The vtech DS6322 series of phone is an upgrade from the DS6222 series. Most of the same features and drawbacks are kept intact, but Bluetooth is anadded feature.

Why Bluetooth? This way this cordless let can function as a standard landline phone as well as a cell phone on the same handsets.Think of it as a two-line phone with one line attached to your cell phone. You just need to have this set "discover" your Bluetooth mobile phone (by placing it next to the base ) and all your contacts are immediately imported.

Most of the pros and cons of the previous model have not been changed:

PRO: Clear audio signal, easy to read display, answering machine, lighted keypad and screen, value priced

CON: Poor ringtones, most are monophonic, so musical rings are basically not available, when power disconnects you have to reset your time and date, 50-phone number limit on landline numbers (more available on cell phone downloads)

Overall this is a nice package with features most consumers want.Vtech should have upgraded this phone with better ringtones is my main complaint.Vtech has priced this phone at a reasonable price point for most buyers.

Plantronics M214C Headset with Adjustable Volume Review

Plantronics M214C Headset with Adjustable Volume
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this locally from an office supply. I paid considerably more for mine, because I needed it in a hurry. It comes with a one year manufacturer's warranty. It has two sliding switches and a wheel type volume control on the cord. One switch is a two position sensitivity/volume control for the microphone (high and low), and the other is a sliding microphone mute switch. The microphone is fairly long and wraps around just to the corner of your mouth.

I sent myself a voice mail using the headset to check for voice and sound quality. The microphone records well and is fairly directional, so normal side room noises are not picked up.The sound quality is satisfactory, but certainly not high fidelity. The headband would become annoying if it was worn for long periods. For a very inexpensive headset used occasionally, this one works reasonably well.If you spend long hours on the phone, invest the money to buy professional quality office headset.

This is a great product for any internet telephone service - all you do is plug this into your home phone jack, then plug in your internet phone service modem into one side. It makes that jack and every other jack in the home available for use. You are also no longer as restricted in selecting your computer location, since the additional line cord length allows you to place your computer on the opposite side of the room from your telephone jack if necessary. Furthermore, since it is a line cord rather than just a dual jack module, you can utilize the jacks with the rotating locking covers.

Panasonic Dect 6.0 4-Handset Cordless Phone with Answering Machine (KX-TG6434T) Review

Panasonic Dect 6.0 4-Handset Cordless Phone with Answering Machine
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have had this system for 2 days and I am so pleased with it.

I bought this system to block collection calls aimed at the
previous owner of our recycled verizon phone number. We have
been baraged with these collection calls with no way other than
changing our phone number to stop them.(I found out that the national
do not call registry doesn't apply to bill collectors!) My wife
didn't want to change our phone number due to the hassle of notifying
everyone and no assurance that the new phone number wouldn't also
have the same problem.I have been looking for a way to block
specific phone numbers on our land line verizon phone, and this
is the ONLY way I have found to do that.

This system allows entry of up to 30 phone numbers to block. The
numbers can be keyed in after entering a code on any of the
4 handsets. The number is then blocked on all the handsets and the
answering machine.Or if I get a call from a number I wish to block
I can navigate to the option to block that number with a few key
strokes.(Naturally you need to have caller id service on your phone
for this feature to recognize the incoming phone numer).

To test the call blocking I blocked my cell phone, and when I called
my main number. I got a single ring, a fast busy for a few seconds and
then a disconnect. On the Panasonic phone I just heard a single ring
and then blessed silence.A few times a day we hear the one ring and
know a call is being blocked. We no longer check the caller id list
to know who called and got blocked - it doesn't matter. No answering
the phone or removing crummy collection messages from the answering
machine. It works !!!

In addition to call blocking, other features I really like is the large print
bright black on white lcd display on the handsets, the ability to mute the ring
on selected handsets (like the one in the bedroom). The ability to mute
the ring on the answering machine (also in the bedroom). The ability to use
any of the 4 handsets to check messages, and to record the answering machine
greeting. The ability to answer a call on more than one handset at the same
time (no more hokey transfering of calls from one handset to another).

This system is heads and shoulders above our last system. The Panasonic
Dect 6 technology is a new generation of features.I know I sound like
a commercial, but I am that pleased. If you check my other reviews and you will
see I tell it like I see it, good or bad.

... added 8/17/09 ...

I forgot to mention another good feature, the answering machine turns off
if I pick up the phone while someone is rcording a message... no more trying
to get the answering machine turned off to avoid feedback, while trying to
take the call.

Regarding the text to speech feature which announces the caller's name
from their caller ID, we don't use it.It is primitive and difficult to
understand but if you needed it you could get used to the voice chip
translation of your caller's name. The reason I don't use it is because
I wanted less disturbance from calls and I found the mangled caller
ID announcement a bit jarring.

In regard to call blocking, it has drastically reduced the annoyance of
the harassing calls we were receiving. The blocked numbers have mostly
stopped calling, and when one company called with a different number,
it only took a few seconds to add that number to the blocked list.

Panasonic Additional Handset for Pankxtg4500B (KX-TGA450B) Review

Panasonic Additional Handset for Pankxtg4500B
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have the 2.4 ghz 4000 version and I love it, but it does buzz sometimes because of my home wireless network, so I thought I'd try the 5.8ghz. What a surprise to find it isn't as good. Yes it has some nice features that do work, but over all, it way over priced and flawed. 1. it's really hard to get a call off hold once you place them on hold. I never did figure out how to do that. 2. it's really difficult to call in to get your messages, knowing what to push, waiting to be told and you better have a lot of patience if you push a wrong button. 3. it's supposed to page you when a caller leaves a message. My 4000 pages me with the caller id of the person who left the messages, from the main unit. The hand sets page me with the number of the handset so I know which one the message is on. The new 4500 pages you with a blank page. You don't even have a way of knowing for sure that it was your phone system that did page you. It dials your pager, then nothing, so I get paged with a blank page, as if someone called my pager and didn't leave a message, or my cell phone with number held. 4. the pause key doesn't work in the paging portion of the phone, so you can enter a number and a pause to wait before continuing to enter numbers. 5. The worst part of the phone system is Panasonic, I'm sorry to say. I buy a lot of Panasonic products, but I won't be so much in a hurry to buy this name brand. They do not answer emails, I spent hours on the phone only to have the "techs" read to me from the manual that I have... they don't know the phone. No one bothers to ask or look into anything and after they read to you from the manual, they hang up on you, so you have to start over. I took it back and I went back to using my 4000, which is many years old (5 or 6). When I finally did get responses from Panasonic, via email, I was told that "that feature doesn't work, that feature doesn't work, that feature doesn't work" and "if that feature doesn't work, return for replacement". I had to go back to my email to see the order in which the questions were being answered; very impersonal.

Average Reviews:

I was not sure about this after reading the 1st few Reviews.
I needed more than 8 extensions so the Panasonic was out of the Question.

This Phone is Excellent for a Small Business.
As far as the All Phones Ring complaint, that is actually a Feature to me.
Additionally, when the Auto Attendant is on they do not ring.
With the Auto Attendant you can record your OGM (Outgoing Message).
Ours says "You've reached INTEC... Press 00 for the Operator, 01 for Jeff, 02 for Scott, etc...
People complained about not knowing that the operator was 00 and 0.
This can be solved with the Outgoing Message and you can also Record 30 seconds of On Hold Message. In your On Hold Message you can state that 00 will return you to the Operator.

The Phone Clarity is Good. We have had no Range Problems. I would not call it Crystal Clear, but there is no Static or cutting in and out.

The Speaker on the Handsets work well.
The Voice Mail is Very Nice Feature, considering we had no Voice Mail at all before this system. You can also Transfer Voice Mail messages to other extensions which is quite nice.

The Voice Mail for Each Incoming Line can be set for How Many Rings before going to the Main Voice mail. However, one problem with the Voice Mail for each extension I have is when you Transfer to someones extension it Rings 6 Times before going to Voice Mail for that extension and it is Not Configurable... Due to this I found out how impatient people are. Everyone would call back and tell me their Voice Mail was not working... I called back on my cell after writing down their message and the Voice Mail works fine. So apparently people are too impatient to wait 6 rings, so now we tell people it will go to their voice mail after 6 rings before we transfer them.

After considering the Price to Wire all the Jacks and/or get a Full System this was the most economical solution and we got more than I was expecting for the Price.

Cisco SPA942 4-Line IP Phone with 2-Port Switch
Average Reviews:

We purchased a half-dozen of these for my startup because they're supported by Vocalocity (our VOIP provider), had the features we want, and the price was right. It's a solid, few-frills, get-the-job-done VOIP phone. Excellent sound quality, and it's attractive on the desk, too.

My only complaint is that the phone uses icons (a picture of a hand for "hold", a piece of paper with a folded corner for "setup") instead of words. At first blush, it's not always intuitive what those icons mean. I understand why Cisco did this (reduced localization costs for a product that can sell in the global market). I almost never read the documentation that comes with electronics, so the first time I needed to place a call on hold, I spent 60 seconds staring at it looking for the "hold" button, dumbfounded that it didn't have one.

Panasonic DECT 6.0-Series 3-Handset Cordless Phone System with Answering System (KX-TG1033S) Review

Panasonic DECT 6.0-Series 3-Handset Cordless Phone System with Answering System
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have gone through more than 15 types of cordless phones in the last several years. Some of them very good, but not perfect, others fairly awful. When I was doing my research this time for a new phone, I came across DECT 6.0 technology. It claims no interference with WiFi networks, greater range, clear transmission and extended battery life. Bottom line, it's pretty much true.

I've used this phone for a week and it is crystal clear, no interference with my WiFi network, no "hiccups" with a call, like static or audible digital artifacts. My 5.8 Ghz phone would let me talk with a range of maybe 100 feet outside of my house with the front door closed. This telephone lets me go to the end of my driveway, across the cul de sac, and into my neighbor's driveway without sound degradation.I'd guess that I'm getting about 3x the distance of my 5.8 Ghz phone in a real world situation.

The great thing about this phone is that the battery life is awesome. The phone claims up to 17 hours of talk time and several days of standby.I make a lot of conference calls from my home, and I'm on the phone about 6 hours per day.I'd have to switch cordless phones during the day with ANY 5.8Ghz phone, as they'd last anywhere from 3 to 5 hours.I've made 2 days of calls, for a total of 11 hours, and the battery indicator still shows a full charge, without being placed back into the charger.I'm going to keep it out of the charger in standby and talk until the battery runs down, to accurately gauge the battery life, but it would appear that the 17 hours of talk time is a realistic estimate.By the way, the phone uses traditional AAA rechargeable batteries (x2), for each handset. My 5.8 Ghz phone used 3, and had a max talk time of about 5 hours.

The keys on this phone are bigger than other phones, another plus in my book.I'd always misdial a number with smaller buttons.I have yet to misdial with these keys. They're the perfect size.

I don't use the answering machine, as I have telephone company voicemail. The only downside to this phone is that the message waiting indicator for telephone voicemail, doesn't work.I've set it to "on", on every phone, and my 5.8Ghz phone will flash the voicemail alert, but these handsets aren't flashing.I've had this problem with other phones, especially VTech, so I'm thinking that most phones work, there must be something about the connection into my house that doesn't get the call message alert to the phone.I have DSL and filters in the house.Maybe this is the cause?

Anyway, overall, this is a really good set of phones, they work great, have great sound, and the battery life is stellar.I'm really happy with this purchase. You should probably consider DECT 6.0 going forward. It's MUCH better than 5.8Ghz technology, in my opinion.

UPDATE:

As an update to my review, the phone is now in it's 16th hour of talk time, with 5 days of standby (no charging) and it's still working on the last bar of the battery indicator.I'd say that the 17 hours of talk time is a conservative number. As stated previously, the battery life is the best that I've ever experienced with a cordless phone.Actually, incredible by today's standards.

Extended Talk Time and Reduce Interference. Panasonic introduces the latest in innovative solutions with its new line of low interference DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Communications) 6.0 cordless telephones systems. The major benefits of this new line of DECT phones include up to 17 hours of talk time, substantial handset expandability, and markedly reduced interference. What are the benefits of Panasonic DECT 6.0 Phones?Engineered to work in the 1.9 GHz frequency range, these phones will not conflict with other wireless devices such as 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi computer routers, wireless keyboards and mousse, microwave ovens, and other common household devices. And because it's digital, DECT 6.0 technology also provides long ranges, excellent clarity, and helps deter eavesdropping. Panasonic Dect 6.0 Metallic Gray Cordless/Corded Phone with Answering Machine (KX-TG1061M) Review

Panasonic Dect 6.0 Metallic Gray Cordless/Corded Phone with Answering Machine
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this phone a couple of weeks ago, as a replacement for a phone that had issue with the audio. I also wanted to be able use a very expensive headset I have. I have spent hours trying to find the right phone. I don't know what made me have an extra look at this phone, but the more I looked, and the more reviews I read, the more I liked it and I ended up purchasing it. I am using it mostly for my home office, but do use it for the occasional personal call as well.

Pros
====
* It has a good sound, so far I have not had the issues I had with my old phone. I have tried both the handset and the speakerphone, and like both. I particularly like the fact that I can put it on speaker, dial the number, and pick up the phone if I need to, or use the speaker phone. I also like that it's possible to switch between handset and speaker phone. Nice touch!
* The buttons/keys are nice. Easy to see without being too large. There are 5 options for speed dial, which made my life very easy! Some buttons (soft buttons) change depending on what you are doing with the phone at the time (on call or not, for example)
* Menus that are easy to understand. The handset is a little bit trickier than the desk phone, but in essence you can do what you want on that too.
* Once a number is programmed into the phone, it can be sent from handset to desk phone and vice versa. I only have one handset (will buy a second one soon), but I understand from the descriptions that you cannot send between handsets. But both can send to desk phone, and from there can be sent to hand sets. You can send all, or individual numbers.
* Large display. It's quite easy to read. I do have some issues with the display, see cons.

Cons
====
* Display. While I generally like the display, I wish it had been raised a bit, or that the phone had a greater angle. I have to either get off my chair or lift my phone in order to see the menus. Once a button is pushed, it's easy enough to see due to the back light, but it annoys me that I have to stretch my neck to see. It's a minor thing, but still.
* Answering Machine. When I got the phone, one of the first things I did, was to try to configure the answering machine. But that cannot be done on the desk phone, it has to be done by the hand set. Since that should be charged for 7 hours before use, this is a bit inconvenient. I thought this could have been done on the phone as well. The man telling me how many messages I've missed has a very metallic voice, clearly computer generated. It's annoying, but nothing major.
* Phone bigger under the handset. This I didn't realise looking at the picture, but the phone is not square. It is a good portion larger where the receiver is compared to the rest of the phone. That means that raising the phone at a larger angle may be an issue (see display above). One really needs a "cradle" to put the phone into.
* Metallic voice/feedback in my headset. I am not sure it's the phone or the combination, but my headset (Plantronic) is in the $250-range, and this phone is no where near as expensive, which leads me to think it's the phone. Especially since the headset has been used before without this issue. But it's something only I hear, not the one I am talking with, and it's not all the time either. It could be because it gets dual feedback, my headset pick it up, and so does the receiver (it has to be lifted off the hook).

But I like this phone, and I am likely to have it for a long time to come. It does the job much better than my previous phone, and the fact that I can use my headset is a serious bonus. I would definitely recommend it for anyone in need of a phone.

Edit: I just got another handset for this phone. Pairing the handset with the phone was a cinch, there is even a button for it. Then I just pressed the menu buttons and sent my entire phone list to the new phone. I also discovered yesterday that I can even listen in on the message on the handset when someone calls and I let it go to answering machine. I really like the features of this phone.

AT&T 1070 Corded Speakerphone Review

AT&T 1070 Corded Speakerphone

Overall, this is a great telephone. All features worked beautifully, each button pressed produced the expected result -- press the Transfer button while on a call, the LCD prompts "Transfer line to ?". By keeping one function per button, and also utilizing the navigation menu-driven options through the phone's display, anyone can easily figure out how to do anything on these phones without ever needing to read any of the documentation.

The speakerphone sounds nice, although the volume of the speaker could've been louder (in my opinion). Each phone allows you to control the ringing tone, volume, and delay ringing options for each line individually. Believe it or not, that level of control of line ringing assignments are usually reserved for KSU systems only! Intercom calling worked flawlessly. All-Page was loud and very practical for a busy home with office, or larger retail store.

With a cost of between $100-$150 per phone, these are an outstanding value for any large home or growing business with 2 or more phone lines looking for the simplicity of replacing their old phones with something more serious, flexible, and functional.

AT&T DECT 6.0 Digital Three Handset Answering System (SL82318) Review

AT&T DECT 6.0 Digital Three Handset Answering System
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I had been using a Uniden digital 5.8 Ghz phone for a number of years. While that phone provided reasonable service, it was lacking in range. We have a large lot (over 5 acres) and the 5.8 Technology just did not have the reach we needed especially outside. Things got worse when we added a wireless network for our computers. When the batteries started to fail in the handsets, we knew it was time to upgrade.

After looking at a lot of phone specs, it was clear that the new DECT technology might solve some of the problems we had. The offerings are not very extensive in this area yet so the choices really came down to personal preferences. There were very few if any owner reviews to go on (that is why I am writing this one) for any of the products available. What was available about other brands was not generally positive.

So we settled on going with a known brand name. AT&T is a brand name product despite being made outside the US by a third party manufacturer.

So far we are pleased with the phone. It has a lot more range than our old phone (though still not really enough). We have a lot of electrical items, and any signal must go through the 8" think oak log walls of the house to work outside. Even with all of that, the phone works out to about 200 feet from the base unit outside. The old phone would barely reach the front porch, and the driveway was out of range. The driveway is only 75 feet from the base unit. This new phone would probable go further than the 200 to 300 feet we have tested it to, if I was willing to put the base on the upper floor of the house. All of the handsets work anywhere inside the house, no problem. The base in located near the cent of the middle floor of the house, so basically it is in the Middle of the building and the interior walls are all of standard drywall construction.

The sound quality is pretty good, and there is absolutely no background noise or interference of any kind. The handset buttons are larger than most and this helps my large fingers hit the buttons better. Also the numbers are protected UNDER the plastic so they will not wear off. The buttons are lighted with an effective lighting system. The volume is adjustable and is adequate, but for my taste it could be made a little louder. Still the volume is ok. Ring and caller volume can be adjusted separately, and the ring volume is plenty loud, especially with four handsets ringing at once.

For my tastes the handsets are a little too slim and light in weight, but this is just my personal taste, my wife likes them the way they are and I would think others would too.

We also bought two add on hand sets for a total of six. I tested the phone inside our barn, and it works fine so we plan to add one out there. The barn is 75 feet from the house, but this adds another set of walls to penetrate when using the phone. I think for most people the range will be fine, and if the older technologies worked for you or were marginal, the newer DECT 6.0 will be just fine.

The battery life seems to be very good. While we do put these back in the cradle at night, we have not had them go dead yet. Even with a very active day of calls the handset does not seem to require topping off to keep going. I would rate the stand by and talk time to be very good. I would prefer if the charge LED went off when the handset is charged, but no companies have got this idea yet.

All in all I would rate this phone highly. I would have preferred the ability to dial from a hardwired phone located on the base, and maybe more message storage space.
