(More customer reviews)I've had the Friday / Fax / Answer Machine 2000 many years...since about 1998....YEP! bought it in OfficeMax it's been around for a long time.

I'm a Realtor & we also have a family owned landscape business.

The Friday has to be one of the BEST things we ever attached to our phone lines (we have 2).

It's not your typical ez plug n go cheap machine.The Friday is a mini VOICE MAIL record n notify machine...it takes a bit of reading before set up and then some time in a quiet area to set it up right...don't rush :)
It has 6 separate mail boxes...we use 3.

Each mail box has it own unique settings for leaving messages and retrieval locally or by remote via phone line.

It plugs into the electrical outlet and has a 9V backup battery that seems to last almost forever...I've only had to replace it once in all these years.

It can forward to my pager or my cell phone or my other office etc.

It doesn't lose settings in a power outage like many cheap machines.

After Hurricane Wilma 10/2005 we were without power for 3 1/2 weeks.
Friday worked perfect when the power came back on and all our messages were still stored...it was perfect again (keep tract of the battery during an extended power outage to keep things stored.

The model I have can operate on 1 phone line or 2 and switches call to my fax when needed.If you want it to page or call forward to somewhere else you have to have 2 SEPARATE phone line...not piggy back ring master.

It's worth the effort to set it up properly and for sure I wish Bogen would keep making this machine and also bring the price down so more people would buy it and realize the professional quality this machine is.
It's fairly small, hangs on the wall and isn't an eye sore in my kitchen.

Some Bogen Friday machines have been discontinued but they are still around NEW if you search the net for them.Bogen has a very useful site I've added below.

BTW as a Realtor I get many, many calls n messages...this machine has never let us down.

I like this phone a lot, a logical interface, easy to program and has all the features I need. Reception is excellent and I was able to stay connected from my mail box across the street. Since it runs in a special bandwidth set aside by FCC for cordless phones, there is no interference from any of the electronics I have piled up around it. The handset is lightweight and compact, not much larger than a cell phone. I have had very good luck with Vtech products for many years.

(More customer reviews)I've had 2 good Unidens in the past, I was never too thrilled with my current 2.4GHz VTech system, and I have TWO different friends with 5.8GHz Panasonic's that they are ready to use for shooting practice...
I was therefore very careful in my new purchase and I've tested every aspect of this system in the last 2 weeks - it passes with flying colors!

- Most importantly, this 1.9GHz system imparts no interference to my wireless router, parked just 3 feet away... and while it doesn't penetrate a metal garage door if you're standing right behind it, I can walk out the front door and talk clearly until I'm halfway past my THIRD neighbor's house.

- These NiMH batteries have given me 4 days off the charger WITH 4 hours of talktime, and the charging seems to be 'smart' because they never get very warm, and get cool when fully charged. Oh, and the the handsets have actual battery gauges instead of just beeps to tell you you're about to lose the call...

- The speakerphones are quite good in both the handsets and the base-station, and when you've left the handset in another room you'll wonder how you ever lived without Caller ID and dialing on the base.

- All the various volumes and ringers are adequately loud and I find most all the controls and menu functions intuitive. The single exception is the 'hold' function, which ought to be a single key-press, but requires pushing Intercom, then Select and then Hang-up to stop everything from ringing... I also love (maybe common nowadays) the answering machine message indicators on the handsets and the ability to both retrieve messages from the handsets and also to monitor an incoming message.

As you can tell, I'm VERY happy with my new system, and I hope it lasts a long time (like my previous Unidens...)

(More customer reviews)This is only the third cordless phone I have ever owned. All three have been Panasonics, with the first one being bought 16 years ago. The first one died after a bad fall, and the second was retired to purchase this current phone system (multiple handsets), that is being used on a Vonage phone system (love it). These new phones have Voice Enhancer (VE), which really makes a difference by canceling out background noise. I also like the antenna-less design. It has a large phone directory that works similar to cell phone directories. It also has a built in speaker phone in the handset that makes retrieving voice mail very simple as you don't have to put the phone up to your ear to hear the next prompt. All-in-all a great phone.

(More customer reviews)I love this phone.It has perfectly clear sound and allows me to roam...out of my apartment and about 200 yards down the sidewalk and past our complex pool...no static at all until a VERY long distance when it starts to cut out the signal a bit.

The bluetooth feature sounds silly but it really is great...if someone calls my cell phone I can answer with any of the handsets in the house.

My only criticisms would be 2:

1) you can only pair one cell phone.I think other AT&T phones offer multiple pairing options

2) the menu system on the handset itself is a bit clunky and it makes it easy to accidentally delete a stored number

The voice is crystal clear, crisp quality.

Even the speakerphone is so good. Another good thing is that you can use the phone on speakerphone while also charging the battery at the same time. That was an important factor for me as I've to be on conf calls for several hours.

Range is quite good too for this cordless. Also, no interference with any other devices in home.

(More customer reviews)I bought this phone last year because of it's functionality.The cordless headset is great for multitasking, and you can use it in tandem with the handset to dial/switch between the two/etc.It's not quite as all-in-one as my old IBM FADS-900 (dialpad on the headset), but it's also much lighter.

Now the bad: the headset is made of rigid plastic, and my broke several months in.A home phone goes through a lot so you might expect it to break.It looks like it will bea challenge to solder back the wires and glue it back together.
The other flaw I've found is that sometimes it says "initializing" and you can't answer the phone.I'm not sure if this has every happened mid-call, but I have had occasions where I couldn't answer a call.

All in all, the price is half of what you'd pay for a comparable Avaya headset, so it's not to be ignored.

(More customer reviews)Although a lot of this has been said by others, I thought it important to weigh in.My previous system was a Panasonic TGX4000B that finally gave up the ghost.It was better designed and had more features, but poorer audio quality.Almost the reverse of this unit.I have been using this unit since May, so I am pretty used to its flaws and good points.Here are my peeves:

*You can't delete messages while you are listening to them.You have to go back and listen to them again to delete.

*Same problems deleting Caller ID displays.It is a 2-3 button process.

*As stated by others, you really cannot know when you are interrupting someone on the other line.

*Almost every phone I have used has a timer for the call.I just assumed there was one.Silly me.Makes billing clients a little more artistic.

*As stated by others, the outgoing message quality stinks.

OK... now that I have slammed the phone, it does have some positives:

*Apart from the outgoing message quality, the general audio quality I find to be excellent.

*I work between an office and a secretarial station.Not a great distance, but never a problem in carrying the handheld.

*The base unit is compact, and both units have easy-to-read displays

*The message indicator on the handheld unit is noticeable.

*Call conferencing was easy to use, but not because it was shown on the handheld.

*I've never had a battery problem on the handheld.

(More customer reviews)Great idea...but poor construction.I had the phone system for one week when the first handset would not function.Went through three days of AT&T eMail support before they authorized me to send it back.Two days later the second handset malfunctioned.In both instances the screen goes blank and the number five appears in the upper right corner.No buttons work at all.We're probably going to pack it up and send it all back.Of course, before we got this system we had a panasonic which would sync multiple cell phones.It stopped working after a couple months.Like I said...great idea and technology and manufacturing will catch up...just not quite yet with this model.

RCA Cell Phone Docking System Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this to use with my Sony Ericsson T226 phone, which RCA claims is compatible with their docking station.When I tried it, I could hear the person I was calling, but they couldn't hear me.Also, I could hear the echo of my own voice, which is not conducive to holding a conversation.So, I took it to the cell phone store with RCA's list of compatible cell phones, and the salesperson and I tried it with a Motorola V551.This provided a sound quality which was not wonderful, but acceptable for communication, so I purchased the Motorola.It sounds tinny or brassy, but at least we could hear each other.So now, I have this system at home, and I'm finding that sometimes the RCA system will work, and sometimes, it will not.If my cell phone is docked, sometimes the cell phone will ring with an incoming call, and sometimes it won't.Sometimes the RCA handsets won't ring when a call comes in.Sometimes, if the cell phone is docked, and a call comes in, I'll pick up the cell phone, but the other RCA handsets won't stop ringing, even though I've picked up the call.They'll ring in the other room for the entire conversation.My experience with this item is that it is not dependable.

(More customer reviews)I just returned this phone after owning it for two weeks.The actual phone was decent enough...good layout and good sound.What I hated was the caller_id...for some reason the caller_id only displayed after two or three rings...way too late and not much time before the phone rolled into voicemail.
I called Panasonic 1-800 about the slow caller_id and they admitted customers complained about it.They gave me a few setting to try changing on my phone.I performed the suggestions but no change for my slow caller_id...so I returned the phone...

(More customer reviews)I have had this device for about 6 weeks now and the drivers for this device makes it border-line unusable.To use this with a computer, you must install the Yealink software (Skypemate) which runs in the background as a service.However, this software is poorly coded and also contains a memory leak.This program will crash without warning once the memory leak gets too large (this may only be an issue if you leave your computer on all the time).Also, this program often times crashed while running. (cutting off a phone conversation minutes into it)

I checked online and this is a common problem.I have tried both an older version of Skype (3) with an older driver(included on the CD) for this device and the newest version of Skype (4) with their newest driver (downloaded from their website) and still have had problems.I have tried this on two computers (one with a completely fresh installation) running Vista Pro 32-bit with all service packs.

I will be buying a different phone/adapter for use with Skype as I am tired of having the adapter drop the phone call after talking for 4 min, or not accept incoming calls at all since the program crashed.Also, enabling the CID functionality causes the device to not work at all.

The hardware itself is rock-solid and if they released a well tested, good driver, this would be a steal.Too bad Yealink has not invested money into decent software.

I agree with the comments made by grn4jd and I should add that grn4jd's comments made me realize how to dial directly from the handset.The fault that people are making about dialing directly is because of the bad documentation, also Philips tech support is not great about how to configure the phone not to disable the computer speakers. I actually found the fix to this at Philips online Knowledge base. I won't go in the details but it has something to do with going into Control Panel>Sounds and also you need to go into Skype>tools>options>sound devices and choose "Audio in, Audio out & Windows default device" then reboot.As far as dialing out directly from the phone, it's simple, dial the prefix 001 then the 10 digit number then press the red Skype button.The only thing wrong with this phone is that the computer needs to be on for it to run Skype and there are phones out there than run independent of the computer but their not for me because they make Skype the default connection over the landline phone.
EDIT: I am editing my review to add a comment. The reviews of this phone are interesting, this phone seems to get either 5 stars or 1 star and I chalk that up to people figuring out how to dial directly out and also to those that didn't figure out how to fix any conflict with the phone and sound cards.Definitely this phone easily dials out using Skype directly. I posted my solution to dial the prefix 001 and the reviewer Matt B. posted another solution that looks even easier than my solution. Also with some aggravation, I believe the sound card conflict can always be solved. The solution lies within ControlPanel>Sounds and the Skype Toolbar.

(More customer reviews)We purchased our VTECH, Model DS4122-3, telephone a few weeks ago; and so far it has worked great.It has single line operation and three handsets. The speaker phone feature seems to work well.It has an attractive contemporary appearance that reminds me of the way cell phones used to look. The numbers are large - easy to see and easy to dial.It has a distinct, pleasant, easy-to-hear ring.We have not yet tried all the features, such as caller ID, conferencing, and call waiting.Time will tell how well this telephone works, but so far I am very pleased.
