The phone looks cool, but it stops there.

The battery does not hold charge and VTECH customer support has repeatedly ignored requests for a replacement.I would shop other phones. This has been a disaster of an experience.

The sound quality is also poor.

Cyberpower CPS425SL UPS - 425VA/230W 6-Outlet RJ11 Compact Design EMI/RFI USB/Serial Review

Got one at staples and plugged it in for a day and forgot about it.

So when I finally attached something to it, it was a week later.
A week of getting charged up.

Used it only for my pc and a 19 inch Dell LCD.

Loaded the cyberpower software, attached the usb cable between pc and usb.

Pulled the power cord from the outlet, to simulate a power outage.
The battery life quickly dropped from 100% and 30 minutes of power, down toabout 80% and 11 minutes of power.

Auto-shutdown timer was set to 4 minutes until shutdown.

About 2 minutes into the outage, the battery was at 60% capacity and there was about 7 minutes of power left.

Then my pc went into auto hibernation.

Withthe side cover off, I saw my cpu fan stop turning. It appeared to be powered off.

I re-attached the power cord into 110 volts and pushed the power button, to get out of hibernation and back to using the pc again.

In a few seconds, I was at the log-in screen.Pro's: it was on sale, about $20.
provides line power filtering
provides "JUST ENOUGH" power to get me to a safe power down, so I don't lose my work.
the auto-shutdown via the USB cable appears to work great.

Con's: Battery life is GREATLY optimisic on the outside of the item's box. The "Typical runtime" for pc and lcd monitor is listed at 23 minutes. My battery life was dropping quickly; much faster than 23 minutes.
UPS software is simplistic, but I could NOT find anywhere to change the shutdown time. I would like it to shutdown in just 2 minutes vs 4 minutes. No where do I find any options other than 4 minutes.
I consider this a glorified surge protector. As long as the line power is cleaned up and I avoid occasional power sags, I'm happy. Those little, short lived sags that knock a pc offline is what hurts. This unit should suffice to prevent such happenings.

I bought based on price.

If price were not a consideration, I'd go with at least a 1000va. That way I'd have more time to stay up and running, in event of a power outage.

I love this phone.I'm not concerned about the shared phonebook as some other reviewers, so I will not comment on that feature.I was looking for a phone with great sound quality and a great form factor (one that felt really good in the hands from an ergonomic standpoint), and this phone is it.The sound quality is very crisp, and this is the first cordless phone with a built-in speaker in which the speaker phone actually works and is crisp and clear.Fantastic!

Panasonic KX-TG2382B 2.4GHz Phone System (Black) Review

Panasonic KX-TG2382B 2.4GHz Phone System
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I wanted a cordless phone to replace a dead Panasonic KX-TG2650 (2.4 GHz cordless phone with speakerphone). In addition, I wanted a phone that has an answering machine built in. Finally, I wanted a cordless phone which offered good range.
I narrowed down my choices by reading epinions.com, ranking of popular phones at amazon.com, and recommendations from cordlessphonesamerica.com.This model appeared to fit my bill. After a week of use, I'm convinced I made the right choice.
Calls are clear, except when I turn on the microwave -- I hear a few clicks when that happens. But that's expected of cordless phones that operate on the 2.4GHz bandwidth.
This model allows you to have conversations between handsets (walkie talkie feature :-))In addition, you can transfer incoming phone calls from one handset to another, and conference into the conversation after the transfer, if needed. You may also page handsets from the base.
The answering system feature is adequate for my needs, and is conveniently accessible from the handset. The speakerphone feature on the handset is an incredible convenience.
I compared this with the KX-TG2730S.I liked the all black appearance of this phone, plus its NiMH batteries. The KX-TG2730S comes with NiCD batteries -- don't want the memory effect.
Hope this helps you.

Product Description:
An expandable cordless system that's ideal for large homes or small businesses, the Panasonic KX-TG2382B includes an additional handset and charger that you can station in a different room from the main hub; one additional handset (for a total of three) is supported as an add-on option. Each handset can connect to another for use as an in-house intercom, and includes a backlit and three-line LCD that provides access to call waiting/caller ID information (with subscription to local service). Thirty names and numbers may be stored and redialed at the touch of a single button, while a separate 30-station phonebook gives access to your most frequently dialed numbers. Hang your phone up on the base (facing up or down) or the included charger--either one will charge your phone whenever you're not using it. Three-way conference calls are available via a single button. When the battery starts running low, you'll know instantly, thanks to the indicator light on the LCD. Each handset is supplied with a digital duplex speakerphone, permitting hands-free calls with none of the annoying echoes of earlier speakerphone models.
The base incorporates a digital answering system with 15 minutes of message recording time. Simple controls allow you to listen, save, and delete messages easily. You'll have full remote access, complete with toll saver, which prevents long distance charges from accruing when you dial in from across the country and there are no messages.
The handsets use the 2.4 GHz frequency with digital spread spectrum technology, which "skips" constantly through a range of available channels to reduce interference and to provide improved security against eavesdropping. Panasonic includes a one-year warranty covering parts and service.
What's in the Box
Two handsets, two NiMH batteries, one base station, one remote charger stand, two AC power supplies, one telephone line cord, two belt clips, instructions, warranty information

Plantronics Cordless Headset Phone (CT14) Review

Plantronics Cordless Headset Phone
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I received apparently one of the first Plantronics CT14 cordless headset telephones, and the bottom line is that there are no big surprises, which means I like the telephone given that I had high expectations in view of my previous experience with Plantronics quality. I did not have either of the previous models, CT12 or CT10, so I cannot compare to those. However at my office for a number of years I have been using a CS10 cordless headset system which works with a multi-line telephone, and I have become quite addicted to using a headset. Based on what I think is an objective test, the audio quality and volume of the CT14 are superb. The way I test that is to call my own voicemail and, during the same call, switch between various telephones while leaving a message. Then I listen to the recorded message, again switching among various telephones. That lets me hear the quality for myself, without relying on a person I am talking to for a report. One characteristic I am pleased to see included is that it is possible to chain dial from recorded numbers in the "phonebook." Thus, when I use a calling card with a 1-800 access number I can then access the PIN in the phonebook to have that dialed as well, followed by the number of the person I am calling. With some other telephones, after you have used the "phonebook" and the call is in progress, the directory scrolling keys change to a different function (e.g. volume) and all the remaining numbers must be dialed by hand. The only negative thing I have to say about the CT14 is that there is a higher level of background noise than I am accustomed to, which I suspect (but do not know for sure) is an inherent part of the DECT 6.0 technology which uses a single frequency band for both sides of the conversation, and uses time division duplex. So, digitally, a lot is going on behind the scenes, and I think I am hearing digital artifacts. This is mitigated somewhat because there is ample volume. So the volume can be turned down, which reduces the background noise, while still being able to hear the person on the other side. At some point I may compare to another DECT 6.0 telephone, or attempt to see what Plantronics has on this issue. (Update: I called Plantronics and a very pleasant rep assured me that the background noise I am hearing is not normal. The background should be quiet. He gave me an RMA number to send back the telephone for a replacement, but before I do that I am going to try the telephone someplace else. It is possible there is some sort of electrical interference unique to my house. Now that I finally have this telephone, I am very reluctant to part with it for any length of time. I really like it.) Earlier complaints regarding the predecessor CT12 concerned interference with Wi-Fi networks, and it seems clear that is not a problem with the CT14. The CT14 operates on a different frequency band (1920-1930 MHz versus 2400-2500 MHz), and that is an advertised feature of the CT14.
