(More customer reviews)I am quite pleased with this phone.I have had it a few months now and I have not had any problems.I had looked at buying this phone on eBay, but I found it at the same price here on Amazon (once you figure shipping and everything).The sound quality is very clear, and the range is quite good.It does not interfere with my wireless 802.11g network at all.I have only a few complaints. The buttons on the base station are small and not laid out too intuitively. You have to clear the Caller ID info on the handset(s) and the base station individually. And the ringer on the base station has 3 settings; Annoying, Very annoying, and Off (The handset ringers are pretty good though). The battery life so far has been fine.I like that you can transfer phonebooks between the handset and the base station, and that you can check messages from the base station or the handset.I researched quite a few 5.8GHz phones, including all of the similar Panasonics, most of the Motorolas, and a few of the VTechs.And this family of Uniden phones (there are 2 handset and 3 handset versions also) seemed to be the best.

I have been using these (with 9 handsets) for over 3 years now.Zero problems and they are fantastic for its price.=============================================================
I did not experiece the two problems mentioned below by previous reviewers:

1. I have comcast phoneline & this Uniden system works great.

2. It comes with all Cordless batteries.It doesn't come with a 9V battery, how difficult is it find one at walmart/target.This comes with all the accessories needed.

I added 6 handsets.The entire house is co-ordinated so well:

Best features I love are:
1. Monitor any room you want in a flash
2. Privacy option prevents your guests monitoring you
3. Do not disturb button keeps all units quiet.
4. Global settings.Awesome - you set the settings in base, it applies automatically to all other units.
5. you can label each handset.
6. registering the handset to the base was a dream, put the handset in the base for 5 sec & you are done.
7. walkie-talkie feature
8. check messages from any handset.
9. all handsets have a red blinking light if there is a message. so, no need to run to base to check messages.
10. you can record a conversation.
11. you can enter your local area code, so when you dial local #s, no need to dial area code.

I just got it a week ago & it works like a dream.I will provide an update in a month or so.

(More customer reviews)It shows up CID right after the first ring, while the Panasonic does it after two rings. The Uniden 2080 does not show caller's name even if the CID is already in the phone book, while my Uniden 1560-2 does! Panasonic is the worst, it scrolls the name and then the phone #; plus, as I just said, it takes one more ring to get CID. When you finally see the caller's #, it is too late, the answering machine is activated.

Although I like the idea of normal AAA NiMH batteries, Panasonic stupidly force them to be charged in the stock charger only. If you put a pair of fully charged batteries into the Panasonic, it keeps saying (via voice) "charge it for 7 hours", until you put the handset into the charger for a while. This defeats quite the point, you still cannot charge the batteries and swap them.

This Uniden uses a battery pack, but the battery chamber is huge (designed for AA). I bought an AAA battery holder from RadioShack and, after some modifications, put it into the handset. Now I can swap NiMH batteries and never have to put the handset back into the charger. Love it. You cannot do this with Uniden 2080 that has a very small battery chamber.

Sound is loud and clear. The Panasonic has annoying background noise. Oh, you'll love the big transparent back-lit keys with superb tic arc feel and the letters are printed underneath - they won't wear out. The rubber key bars on 2080 are garbage.

Some other features worth of mentioning: you can copy phone book entries from one handset to other handsets. You can inte'com or page any or all other handsets and transfer or conference a call. You can make calls private to other handsets. You can assign 8 personal rings for different callers. Voicemail indicator and button, pause button, mute button, speakerphone button and redial 5 numbers.

If you don't need the answering machine, the Uniden 1560-2 sold for $29.99 from your local HomeDepot stores is a steal. If you need more than 2 handsets, you can buy two 1560-2. You can also use any DCX150, DCX200 and DCX300 handsets, but each cost $30. Although you can use 2080's handsets on 1560, they still won't show caller's name that's already in phone book. You can register a handset to multiple bases; so there is no problem to use two or more 1560-2 for a single line (i.e, extra bases are used as chargers only). If you like, you can use them like multi-line phones which are very expensive.

The only thing missing is headset jack, which I don't care but may turn down some people. One other concern is durability. My 900MHz Uniden just died after a year of light use. That's why I'm in this market and this time I looked at the Panasonic first.

Uniden TCX905 Accessory Handset and Charger with Call Waiting and Caller ID Review

(More customer reviews)I bought two of these to supplement my Uniden Tru8888 after researching compatibility. While the software driving these phones has much of the interface of the TCX805/Tru888x line, I'll cut my stars accordingly for the Tru888x line. Comments about this expansion handset:

- The four-way joystick-like button is a blessing. The up-down buttons on the TCX805 are OK but the left-right buttons fail to work when editing a number in the phone book especially to add the 1 before an area code. They instead add # and *. Here, you don't have to re-type the whole number, just move where you want with the joystick. The odd but subsequently convenient Space typed by right-arrowing in text is gone, apparently replaced by the character range on zero, one of which is a space. Operation in low light is a lot easier with the big joystick button.

- Two numbers per phonebook entry seems to be new here, and I like it.

- The quality of sound, range and the clarity of the speakerphone on the handset remain excellent.

- They seem to mate to a TCX805 charger but don't seem to fit in right. So if you have a mix, don't interchange their charger bases.

- I like the overall feel and I prefer using the 905's in the bedrooms (where you might have to use them in the dark) and the 805 remains in the living room.

I'll update with my experiences as I continue to use them. For now, the TCX905 gets all five stars.

(More customer reviews)I have the DECT1580-3 version (3 handsets).My wife and I love it.The range and sound is much better than our 900Mhz and 2.4Ghz phones.Plus at 1.9Ghz these phones no longer interfere with WiFi.

Pros:
*Only one phone jack needed for all phones (great for Vontage or such)
*Great speakerphone really useful with dial-up "customer" service
*Can name each handset, so one can xfer/page by their name/location
*One phone book for all phones (or separate, if desired)
*Lighted keypad
*Number of messages counter on base
*New message light (LED) on phone
*Listen to recorded and screen live incoming messages from any phone
*Easy to add extra handsets as needed (like DWX207 Waterproof Handset)

Cons (all minor gripes):
*Single voice mail box
*No keypad/speakerphone on base
*No headset jacks
*Old style NiCd Batteries instead of better NiMh or Lion
*Base wall mount bracket not included, extra handsets not wall mountable

Overall I would strongly recommend this Uniden Dect6.0 phone.

(More customer reviews)Our Panasonic phones were suffering from heavy, ungentle use. We were happy with Panasonic, but we decided to try this similar and comparably priced Vtech set instead. Mostly we liked its appearance. The two sets are very comparable in appearance and ease of use. Set-up was equally easy. However, here are three features Panasonic had, that the Vtech units do not have:

1. Panasonic had an easy-to-reach menu item to directly access my messages at my phone service provider. Vtech lets me turn off the phone-base messages, but then I have to set up a directory entry to reach my provider-held messages or dial them each time.
2. Panasonic let me set ring tones for anyone on my directory ... not the Vtech units.
3. Panasonic offered the option of caller ID voiced aloud from the base unit.

Small differences, but I would have stayed with Panasonic had I known these were not available with the Vtech set.

Still, the Vtech set has one feature better than the Panasonic. It has a quick and easy way to alter phone log numbers to whatever format we need to call back or put them in our directory. Our state uses area codes that are not geographically determined. So, every call has to have at least 10 digits and many need a one added for long distance. Vtech flips through the options to let us pick the one we need ... very nice.
