Uniden DECT 6.0 Compact Cordless Phone with Caller ID and Extra Handset and Charging Cradle. Review

I bought this particular phone because it was the only one that has all of the features I needed for my home office phone -- voicemail indicator, belt clip, earphone jack, speakerphone -- as well as the usual things like speed dialing and Caller ID. (I was surprised at how few phones come without answering machines now.) This phone was easy to set up and program. The handsets can send copies of speed dial numbers to each other. It's also a nice-looking phone that doesn't take up much space on the desk. The microphone in the handset is not very good. My voice sounds overmodulated to people I'm talking with. I usually use a headset, though, so that's not a huge issue for me. One very strange thing I have discovered is that the Caller ID on this phone does not interface with the programmed numbers, so if someone who's in my list of speed dial numbers calls me, their name is not displayed. I've never had a phone that did not recognize programmed numbers, so I find this very strange. I contacted Uniden about it, and they say this is the normal operation for this phone. This is probably the biggest con from my point of view, because my coworkers are all at another location, and I would like to be able to greet them by name when I answer the phone. It's not enough to make me take back the phone, because this is still the only phone that has all of the other features I want. But I do find it very strange that any phone would not have this feature. I always thought it was standard. Everything else about it appears to work well.

I bought this phone to replace my phone at work.It works and does what I need it to do so I don't have too many complaints.Had I bought this phone for home use...I would not be a happy camper. The number pad is hard to use.I can dial numbers and everything, but there's a slight sticking that occurs when a number is compressed. The main thing that irritates me is that the phone hangs up when it passes the antenna associated with my radio on my desk. What I have to do every morning when I come in is take the handset out of the cradle and put it in a place where it won't come in contact with the antenna.I'm not sure why this is...maybe a frequency issue, but nonetheless it is what it is.I shouldn't have to buy a phone to use at work anyway so I looked for the cheapest phone I could and I got what I paid for.

Panasonic KX-TGA600B 5.8 GHz Expandable Digital Cordless Handset (Black) Review

Panasonic KX-TGA600B 5.8 GHz Expandable Digital Cordless Handset

This is only the third cordless phone I have ever owned. All three have been Panasonics, with the first one being bought 16 years ago. The first one died after a bad fall, and the second was retired to purchase this current phone system (multiple handsets), that is being used on a Vonage phone system (love it). These new phones have Voice Enhancer (VE), which really makes a difference by canceling out background noise. I also like the antenna-less design. It has a large phone directory that works similar to cell phone directories. It also has a built in speaker phone in the handset that makes retrieving voice mail very simple as you don't have to put the phone up to your ear to hear the next prompt. All-in-all a great phone.

AT&T DECT 6.0 Black/Silver Digital BlueTooth Cordless Answering System (TL92378) Review

AT&T DECT 6.0 Black/Silver Digital BlueTooth Cordless Answering System

I love this phone. It has perfectly clear sound and allows me to roam...out of my apartment and about 200 yards down the sidewalk and past our complex pool...no static at all until a VERY long distance when it starts to cut out the signal a bit.

The bluetooth feature sounds silly but it really is great...if someone calls my cell phone I can answer with any of the handsets in the house.

My only criticisms would be 2:

1) you can only pair one cell phone.I think other AT&T phones offer multiple pairing options

2) the menu system on the handset itself is a bit clunky and it makes it easy to accidentally delete a stored number

Panasonic KX-TG3032B 2.4 GHz Cordless Telephone w/Digital Answering machine and 2 handsets Review

Panasonic KX-TG3032B 2.4 GHz Cordless Telephone w/Digital Answering machine and 2 handsets
Average Reviews:

I purchased this phone after being driven nearly deaf and insane by a GE Edge phone whose ring and key volume were loud enough to hear easily in the next apartment over (and we don't normally hear our neighbors at all!), and which could not be adjusted.

Overall, this phone is almost exactly what I was looking for.It allows you to adjust ring tone, ring volume, and key tone (either on or off in the later case).Voices come through clear, and the vocal enhancement feature is nice too. It's also relatively easy to program/save answering machine messages.

I have only two minor complaints about it:First, one has to go through a couple of menus in order to turn the ringer off.I don't like being awakened by supposed charities calling at 8 am so I normally want to turn the ringer off at night and have it on low during the day.Secondly, there should be a means by which one can change the volume of the speaker; thus far, turning the voice enhancement on or off is enough for me.On the other hand, if you have sub-par hearing, you should consider a panasonic model that allows one to change the speaker volume.

Lastly, though I haven't tried it much, I don't think the speaker-phone option works very well.It is of sufficient volume to hear the person talking to you, but you still need to be within a couple feet of your phone and speaking directly at it to pick your voice up very well.I think if you want this functionality, you should probably just pick yourself up a headset.

VTech LS6245 DECT 6.0 Touch-Sensitive Bluetooth Expandable Cordless Phone System with Four LS6204 Accessory Handset Review

This is my 2nd vtech phone. I purchased because I needed 6 total extensions and I liked how they looked on the internet. I also thought the bluetooth feature would be nice.

No one in my family likes these phones (wife, son, daughter).

For example, the base station has very tiny red symbols on black that are very difficult to see. None of the buttons light up, so, even in a bright kitchen, you never know what buttons to push to forward, delete, skip, etc. without getting inches from the unit.

The handsets are also always dark, and only light-up when you pick them up. If you need to enter numbers, #, etc. when ordering something, you cannot see the numbers. You have to wait for the phone to light-up again.

We've lost many calls when picking up. For some reason, the phone disconnects when you touch "Home/Flash." There is no "Talk" button, and, we always have to rethink what to do with this phone since it is not like any other phone (work, cell, etc.).

The sharp square corners can actually dig into your ear when talking on the phone for a while too.

Overall, the phones look and sound great. They are just not easy to use, and my family is not happy I bought them. They want the old vtech phones back.

Panasonic KX-TG1000N 2.4GHz Multi-Handset Cordless Phone - Champagne Review

Panasonic KX-TG1000N 2.4GHz Multi-Handset Cordless Phone - Champagne
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After years of frustration with what were touted to be the best models along the evolutionary path of cordless telephones, I finally feel vindicated by having found the KX-TG1000N system. This phone system has all of the features that I have always desired and it has demonstrated superior quality in all areas. Although the phone handset is smaller than average, it is comfortable both in the hand and between the shoulder and ear. Its smaller size makes it lighter and therefore less cumbersome. The audio quality on receiving and transmitting is excellent, with uniformly good feedback from people with whom I regularly converse. There has also been no interference at all (even with the base station lodged between my desktop computer and speakers), and the range has been great. Perhaps this reflects the highly desirable frequency-hopping spread spectrum (FHSS) technology this system employs. The speakerphone is also very good, with clear reception and transmission. Note that a speakerphone is present not only on the base station, but also in the handset(s). Although the handset speakerphone is also good, it will greatly reduce battery life. The battery is not the usual NiCd battery; it is a NiMH battery, offering much longer life between charges. There is also a compartment on the side of the base unit which houses (and keeps charged) a spare battery (optional), which can power the base in the event of a blackout, or which can be used to swap with a handset battery low on power. I enjoy the ability to add up to a total of 4 handsets with this system (one comes with the base; the others are optional). The handsets are digitally registered to the base, preventing surreptitious use of the system by unauthorized outsiders. The system has the ability to announce and transfer calls from base to handset, handset to base, and handset to handset. An integrated intercom system is an added bonus. Additionally, multiple users can talk to a party (conference style) simultaneously. Of course, all of the standard features you would expect on a phone in this price range are present, including one-touch dialing, stored phone numbers, voice mail indicator, caller id/call waiting id, multiple volume controls, range extender, programmable ringer melodies. Overall, this is a great phone system, which I wish would have been developed years ago.

Panasonic KX-TG2500B 2.4 GHz Water-Resistant Cordless Phone (Black) Review

Panasonic KX-TG2500B 2.4 GHz Water-Resistant Cordless Phone
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought the 2550 model (the one with Caller ID, but noanswering system). I like the phone pretty much overall, but there aresome things I would like to mention.
1) The Talk button itself is not illuminated; it's also a little small. However, you can answer a call by pressing any of the dialing buttons (0-9), which are illuminated. Still, I think they should have illuminated it somehow.
2) You WILL notice some clutter next to the big blue button: too many labels, and too many other surrounding buttons in such a small space just lead to initial confusion. Thankfully, I've almost gotten used to it.
3) The ringer volume only has 3 levels: low, high, and off. I think there should have also been "med" and "very high" settings to choose from. The receiver volume has low, med, and high settings. The battery strength has low, med, fully charged, and "recharge" indications.
4) The Caller ID function, as well as the Voice Mail indicator function, seem to work just fine. I like the fact that each function is associated with its own distinct light on the base unit.
That is, if you get a call, then the Caller ID light on the base will flash red. If that caller also leaves you voice mail, then the Voice Mail light on the base will also flash red.
There is also a separate Voice Mail button on the handset where you can store your Voice Mail access number/password...
5) Luckily, the display is backlit and can easily enough be read in the dark.It shows you the number of new calls you've received, as well as an indication if someone left you voice mail.
6) The Caller List can hold 50 names and numbers, plus date and time for each. If the same person calls you twice, then their name and number will only be listed once with an "x2" (as in times 2) notation next to it. After you review an item in the Caller List, a checkmark is placed beside that entry.
7) The Directory (where you store your own names and numbers) can hold 30 entries. You can use lower-case letters and special characters in the name fields, like "Mom & Dad". You can also copy an entry in the Caller List over to the Directory.
8) I haven't used the Call Waiting functions at all; I just don't have that service available to me right now. Nor have I experimented with the phone's range (outside my apartment).
-dch

Siemens Gigaset Digital Cordless Phone with Hybrid IP/Landline Calling (A580IP) Review

Siemens Gigaset Digital Cordless Phone with Hybrid IP/Landline Calling
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am reasonably technical and run a VOIP PBX for our small business with several different providers, IP Phones and gateways. This seemed like a nice addition where cordless IP phones are needed.I have almost returned this several times because of the UI and contact import issues, however I am keeping it in hope of an updated firmware release.

Pros -
Good voice quality
Register multiple VOIP Providers
Price is right for an expandable VOIP based ATA and handset

Cons -
Handset Interface and Features are a mess to use - Siemens could learn something from other cordless handset manufactures
Vcard contact import is a nightmare
Can't seem to remove internal Gigaset setting/provider
Web interface is acceptable If you do the upgrade... if not it is so slow you can' use it.
No Headset Jack (are you kidding me?)

I want to like it... but not quite prime time.

I specifically looked at this model because of the Bluetooth capability and the initial pairing and the call quality are great. Here are my two gripes that ultimately lead me to take the unit back after trying it for a couple of weeks:

1) You can only have 1 active bluetooth phone paired at a time. Most phones that support this allow for at least 2 paired devices.

2) The auto-pair technology. This was the deal breaker. The idea is the unit will reconnect with your phone should you take it away and bring it back. That works only under one condition - that you don't actually use a bluetooth headset with the cell phone in the meantime.Because I use a bluetooth headset when I am in the car, everytime I would return home there would be no connection and I would have to go through and manually pair the unit again. This became highly annoying after a few days and finally did me in.

So, the phone itself worked great and had clear reception both in cordless mode as well as in cell mode, but if you are shopping specifically for the bluetooth feature, then you might need to keep looking.

V-Tech LS6245 DECT 6.0 Expandable Cordless Phone with Caler ID, Answering Device, and Bluetooth Capability
Average Reviews:

I've been in the market for a Bluetooth-enabled home phone for the past 10 months, but every review of such products has been more or less negative. I first caught a glimpse of this new phone at the the Engadget website [...] earlier in the year. After finding it at a local Fry's I purchased one with 3 extra handsets from Amazon. Here are my impressions after 3 days of use:

Things I Like:

1. Full soft-touch surface. No buttons, very nice styling. A key-lock activates after 10 seconds.
2. Speaker phone is loud and clear. Call quality is likewise loud and clear, but have to turn up the volume for cellular calls.
3. Separate buttons to make home and cellular phone calls.
4. Ability to join home and cellular calls into a 3-way conference.
5. Ability to make one home and one cellular call at the same time.
6. Different ringtones for incoming home and cellular calls allows you to differentiate between them immediately.
7. Automatic synchronization of the address book. You can add/edit the phone book entries on any handset (or base) and all handsets are synchronized immediately.
8. DECT 6.0 for minimal interference and good privacy.
9. Digital answering machine with all the requisite features (including access from another phone).
10. Price. I was expecting the base unit to cost at least $100. Extra handsets are only $39.95 at Amazon.

Features I Wish For:

1. Automatic download of phone book from cellular phones.
2. USB interface to synchronize phone book with PC/Mac.
3. Wall mount for the handset.
4. Ability to name each handset like "Kitchen", "Master Bedroom", "Garage", "Kid's Room", etc.Handsets are automatically named "Handset 1", "Handset 2", etc.
5. Night mode with ability to silence a subset of the handsets and lower the volume on others.

I still gave it 5 stars because of auto-synchronization and a feature set that is practical without being saddled by too many features (and complexity).

Panasonic KXTG4000B 2.4 GHz DSS 4-Line Cordless Phone with Caller ID and Voicemail Review

Panasonic KXTG4000B 2.4 GHz DSS 4-Line Cordless Phone with Caller ID and Voicemail
Average Reviews:

I purchased this phone for my home office.I liked the ability to have access to all the lines (including my fax line) on one system. This system has excellent functionality based upon the attendant and call routing. It also has better range in our 4,500 sf house than the Siemens 2420 system, which only is only a two line phone (more later). This system has large programmable memory locations, intuitive interfaces on the extensions as well as the base station.
HOWEVER, the primary purpose for acquiring this phone was to use the base station as my primary office phone with the capability to roam throughout our three story house. As a base station, this system is severely lacking.Although the speaker phone is great, it has NO MUTE!If you participate in conference calls, you need a headset with a mute switch to have an offline discussion or even sneeze. Also, using two friends as guinea pigs, the sound quality was pitiful on two different units of this same model thinking it was a fluke. According to my unscientific testing, the sound quality of the cordless handsets was poor as well. Finally, the handsets are huge. While the antenna makes the range a little better, it is a large unit that makes me feel like I have a Motorola Brick phone next to my head.Ergonomics are not Panasonic's strong suit, but the lit keypad is nice for using in the dark (although I prefer doing other things than dialing someone while in the dark).
I tried these units in direct comparison to the Siemens 2420.I've never been a VTech fan and didn't even consider them. The Brother was too cumbersome so I excluded it too.So, based upon my personal, andtime consuming, experiences, I chose the Siemens because it had better sound and, of all things, a mute button for the base. The range of the Siemens compared to the Panasonic may not be great and I had to replace the NiMH with Li batteries, but taken as a whole I liked the Siemens better.
If Panasonic had put a mute button on the base of this system, I would have kept it in spite of the sound differences.Funny how one litte feature made my decision.

Product Description:
Give your small business or home the productivity-enhancing features of a business telephone system without the high price tag. The KX-TG4000B four-line cordless telephone system accommodates up to eight handsets, while the all-digital voice mail system with auto attendant can be occupied by up to four users simultaneously. And dual caller ID with call waiting lets you see who's calling on either line.
The KX-TG4000B base unit and each cordless handset communicate in both directions using 2.4 GHz frequency-hopping spread spectrum (FHSS) transmission. FHSS technology improves calling range and clarity, and eliminates crosstalk. Because it rapidly changes transmission frequencies within the 2.4 GHz bandwidth, this cordless system helps reduce the possibility of eavesdropping.
The KX-TG4000B operates via cordless transmissions, so no expensive (and messy) wiring or installation is required. Simply hook up the base to your phone lines and plug it into an AC outlet. Then, set up the included KX-TGA400B handset in the desired location and plug in the recharging stand. Up to seven more optional KX-TGA400B handsets can be added to the system.
The convenient, reliable, all-digital voice mail includes many advanced features. The KX-TG4000B offers a general delivery mailbox on the base unit, plus up to eight personal mailboxes--one for each handset. Each user can record a personal greeting, and can access individual mailboxes from any system handset or an outside line. You can set the voice mail system to automatically answer all incoming calls with a recorded greeting, and to route callers to a desired extension or mailbox. The KX-TG4000B allows for four separate voice paths, so four system users can access voice mail at once.
This phone system also includes a digital duplex speakerphone with an eight-step volume control. Digital circuitry in the base unit helps reduce echo and the dropout effect for more natural-sounding conversations.
Dual caller ID with call waiting lets you view the name and number of all incoming callers on either the base unit or handset LCD--even if you're already on the line. This caller ID feature also stores up to 50 names on the base unit (up to 30 names on each handset), with direct callback capability. And thanks to caller ID pager call, you can even program the phone to notify your pager when you've received an incoming call, and to forward caller ID data to your pager's display. (Subscription to caller ID services is required.)
Other features includetwo-way intercom/paging, lighted handset keypad, headset jack in the handset, and a belt clip. The handset offers up to eight hours of talk time and up to 96 hours of standby battery life.

Verizon VZ-V300AM-2 DECT 6.0 Cordless Phone with Enhanced Features (Silver) Review

Our previous Siemens Gigaset phone served us well for many years, but the buttons began not to register when pressed. We wanted to buy another Siemens phone since we liked the old one, were familiar with its operation and we appreciated its key features, e.g.you can check messages from any handset and can send contacts wirelessly to the other handsets.Unfortunately, I couldn't find any stores that stocked the newer generation of Siemens Gigaset phones (which looked sleek and feature rich).Furthermore, none of the other DECT phones that were apparently well received appeared to have either of these two key features.Fortunately, I heard that this Verizon V300 phone was made by Siemens and had similarexcellent functionality and features as the Siemens Gigaset phones. We set the phone up today, are pleased to confirm this and we are glad that we chose to buy this phone. This phone is a winner.

Panasonic Dect 6.0 Expandable Digital Cordless Answering System - 4 Handset System (KX-TG9334T) Review

Panasonic Dect 6.0 Expandable Digital Cordless Answering System - 4 Handset System

The battle between WiFi and wireless telephones.

We had a mixture of 2.4 gigahertz phones for years that coexisted peacefully with our old wireless G router. Well, the router died and we needed a new one. The newest technology for wireless is "N" with Mimo Technology, which supports both N and G wireless networks. So, of course we buy. After all, now is the future, right?

Mimo WiFi uses several different radio frequency channels (in the 2.4 gigahertz range for G networks) at the same time to assure an optimal radio signal to your WiFi laptops (in our case, G). This works great for the WiFi network, BUT......every time our telephones rang...Poof, the WiFi Signal got scrambled and we lost the network. We tried setting different channels on the phones and the router, nothing worked.

So being in the market for a major upgrade with our now antiquated phone system, we bought this Dect. 6.0 system that uses the 1.9 gigahertz frequency.

First of all..no interference in the WiFi network....NONE!

There are also a few features that I like.

We can now communicate and transfer calls with each other over 5 acres of land with complete security.

Talking Caller ID enables me to save a few steps and decide if I want to answer the call.

Since Vonage (my phone service) does not have specific call block, this phone can block certain pesky incoming calls and give the abusive callers a busy signal to listen to. This is a great feature and the only way Panasonic could improve on it, is to give us a choice between the busy signal or tones that indicate that the phone has been disconnected.

I can't say anything about the voice mail except that you can turn it off quite easily. We use the Vonage voice mail and are quite happy with it.

We are easily adding to the phone book as calls are coming in. I think it is a bit of a hassle to add them in manually.

Different ring tones are nice, and sound pretty. All of us have set up different ring tones and it is quite a symphony in the house when all the phones play their distinct melodies.

Each phone has a speaker phone and my friends can't tell I am using it.

Only the main base need to be plugged into a backup power supply if you want to do that.

All in all, I am very satisfied and am going to add 2 more phones to my 4 phone system.

Vtech Expandable 4-Handset Cordless Phone with Digital Answering System and Cellular Bluetooth Connection Review

Vtech Expandable 4-Handset Cordless Phone with Digital Answering System and Cellular Bluetooth Connection
Average Reviews:

The vtech DS6322 series of phone is an upgrade from the DS6222 series. Most of the same features and drawbacks are kept intact, but Bluetooth is anadded feature.

Why Bluetooth? This way this cordless let can function as a standard landline phone as well as a cell phone on the same handsets.Think of it as a two-line phone with one line attached to your cell phone. You just need to have this set "discover" your Bluetooth mobile phone (by placing it next to the base ) and all your contacts are immediately imported.

Most of the pros and cons of the previous model have not been changed:

PRO: Clear audio signal, easy to read display, answering machine, lighted keypad and screen, value priced

CON: Poor ringtones, most are monophonic, so musical rings are basically not available, when power disconnects you have to reset your time and date, 50-phone number limit on landline numbers (more available on cell phone downloads)

Overall this is a nice package with features most consumers want.Vtech should have upgraded this phone with better ringtones is my main complaint.Vtech has priced this phone at a reasonable price point for most buyers.
