GE 29096GE1 Caller ID Box with Call Waiting Caller ID Review

GE 29096GE1 Caller ID Box with Call Waiting Caller ID
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought two of these units in March 2003. I needed "Call Waiting Caller ID" capability and bought these units after an awful experience with Radio Shack's comparable product. I was immediately impressed by how much better these units worked, and indeed they do everything well. They even have a call timer (which I wasn't aware of). The only bad news is that I've had one of them fail. A few weeks ago it started complaining of low batteries, even though I'd put batteries in both units at the same time. Removing the batteries then putting them back in solved the problem for a week or two, but then the problem came back. Finally, the problem came back for good ... even new batteries couldn't solve it. Then the display went nutso, it started displaying the call counter even though the unit wasn't hooked up. It did that even after having no batteries in it for several days (I thought that might reset it). So I've sent the unit back to the company for repair (Texas). We'll see. The other unit continues to work fine. I like this unit well enough that I'm even considering buying a third one for another room ... and keeping my fingers crossed.

Emerson EM 2516 Slimline Phone with 70-Number Caller ID Memory Review

Emerson EM 2516 Slimline Phone with 70-Number Caller ID Memory
Average Reviews:

My phone's display doesn't light up, like the other reviewer noted. It makes it almost impossible to read the display. The sound quality is poor; I have to tell callers to lower their voice or they sound distorted. This phone is used as an extension in one of my bedrooms; so I'll keep it but it's just for convenience sake so I can answer the phone if it rings while I'm in that room. This phone is not made for long conversations. I guess you get what you pay for when you buy a $10.00 phone.

Bell South CALLER ID Phone Box CI30 Review

Bell South CALLER ID Phone Box CI30
Average Reviews:

Its hard to locate stand-alone caller-id boxes these days; and this one is one that would be somewhat run of the mill a few years ago.It comes with an included AC adaptor, and will run on batteries, but I bought it because of the AC adaptor.I hate putting batteries in these things. The display is pleny visible enough and has adjustable contrast in case you view it from a weird angle and its not visible enough.

Click Here to see more reviews about: Bell South CALLER ID Phone Box CI30

Product Description:
With the CI30 caller ID phone box from Bell South, you can add caller ID and call waiting functionality to your current, non-caller ID enabled telephone. This box allows you to easily see a list of the last 99 incoming calls, along with their name and the time they called. A new call indicator lets you know when new caller ID entries have been received, while a repeat call indicator lets you know when somebody has called multiple times. A display and dial feature also lets you easily call any displayed caller ID entry with the touch of a button.
The call waiting feature lets you place the current conversation on hold in order to answer a second incoming call. If you have subscribed to voicemail service, a new message indicator lets you know when you have messages waiting. If the incoming caller has caller ID block or is calling from an area without caller ID service, the CI30 displays 'Private' or 'Unavailable', respectively. You can mount the unit on a desk or wall, whichever is most convenient, and adjust the LCD contrast level to provide the best view. The CI30 also comes backed with a one-year limited warranty.

AT&T 974 Small Business System Speakerphone with Intercom and Caller ID/Call Waiting (Titanium Blue) Review

AT&T 974 Small Business System Speakerphone with Intercom and Caller ID/Call Waiting
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've been looking for a multi-line corded phone for months, and thought I'd found what I wanted in the AT&T 992, which recently became available. It had all the features I was looking for, but the phone did not work reliably.I bought and returned three of them, all with a different problem.

I then decided to try this phone, the 974, even though it's a 4-line phone and I only need two lines. It has worked perfectly, and the overall quality is much better than the 992.I especially notice a difference in the sound quality.Unlike the 992, the line indicator buttons on this phone only illuminate when a line is in use, so it's much easier to see the activity on the lines.A big advantage of this phone over many others is that all the lines work in the event of a power outage.

I haven't used the conference feature yet, but all the other features--speakerphone, headset, caller ID, message waiting indicator, etc.--work as they should.

Product Description:
The 974 from AT&T is a four-line corded telephone with powerful features and reliable operation. Caller ID/call waiting compatibility and multi-user expandability to 16 stations (compatible with AT&T models 945 and 984 along with other 974 models) provide you with plenty of options.
Four-line operation, intercom function, and conference calling help you easily manage call flow from several clients, colleagues, and customers at once. For the busy office environment, a built-in speakerphone and headset compatibility allow you to comfortably communicate hands-free.
The 200-name-and-number phone directory helps you keep track of your important contacts, and a 32-number speed dial lets you quickly dial the most frequently used numbers. Two hundred caller ID locations are also provided, and incoming call information and most setup features are easily viewable on the built-in LCD.
A new-message indicator provides a visual alert to any new voicemail messages, while the redial feature lets you easily dial any of the last six outgoing numbers. Two data ports are integrated into the 947, allowing you to hook up peripherals, such as a fax machine or modem, with ease. You can install the 947 on any desktop, or mount it on the wall to free up space. The unit also comes backed with a one-year limited warranty.

Panasonic KX-TG2258S 2.4 GHz Digital Cordless Phone with Talking Caller ID and Answering System Review

Panasonic KX-TG2258S 2.4 GHz Digital Cordless Phone with Talking Caller ID and Answering System
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Since I have only purchased Panasonic brand cordless phones for over 10 years, my review is really based on my expereinces with older Panasonic models rather than competitors of Panasonic.
I purchased an earlier Panasonic model (KXTG-2680N) of this phone two years ago, and for the most part I really liked is clarity and multitde of features (it was at the time one of the top line phones). However, like other Panasonic cordless phones I've had in the past, the number buttons on the handset started to stick and then stopped working at all.
I bought this particular model as a replacement for the older KX-TG2680N because I'd becomea fan of the talking caller ID function. While I initally thought it was a silly function, I later found it very helpful. If I couldn't find the handset quickly enough to read the caller ID, it was nice to have a voice that told me who was calling. The KX-TG2680N talking caller ID was unintentionally funny; its pronunciation and accenting of names was often terrible, and it took time a couple of moments to figure out what it was saying. The newer KXTG-2258, however, has improved the pronunciation of names and there are far fewer times when I have to pause to think about what it is saying.
One downside of the KXTG-2680N was that the phone's battery life was short; I never bought a replacement battery, so my conversations had to be 45 minutes at the longest. So far the KXTG-2258 appears to have a longer battery life (but it has only been three weeks).
Other improvements of the KX-TG 2258 are that the buttons on the handset and speaker are bigger, and their placement is more intuative and therefore less confusing. The handset is much bigger and more comfortable to use (the older model tried to copy a cell phone) .There is also the slow talk option on the answering machine (which I don't use much) that helps when you're trying to take down a number or directions. I loved the handset speakerphone, and it is still featured on this phone. The clarity of the phone is excellent, so the voice enhancer is really not important to me.
The KXTG-2680N was full of features, but it was not an easy phone to navigate; I read the maual throughly and refered to it often. You still should on this phone, and while it still isn't the most user-friendly phone, much is less confusing than its predecessor.
However, there are things that could be improved upon and helpful features that Panasonic dropped on this lower-end model of the phone:
--The KX-TG 2258 still does not have a one-touch programmable speed dial; phone numbers are entered in the handset's phone book.Annoyingly, the phonebook can only be accessed through the handset, rather than the speakerphone and handset.
--If you are listening to the answering machine, you can't dial the handset. The machine stops playing when you press the talk button.
--When dialing from the phonebook, you cannot switch to the handset speakerphone until the number is complelydialed. Also, you can't acess the phonebook if the handset speakerphone is on.
--The answering machine may allow you to slow down a message, but it does not allow you to speed through one.You have to listen to the message from the beginning rather than forwarding to the important part of the message.
--The phone comes with several different rings tones for incoming cals. However, it would have been more useful if you could assign a group of incoming numbersa certain ring tone so you could tell who is calling. In other words, to program a caller group. The older model had this feature, and additionally the handset screen lit up a different color so that you could hear and see that it was someone from a particular group that was calling.I always thought it was overkill along with the talking ID, but I find myself missing that feature the most. When the TV is on or I cannot hear the talking ID, I could simply look at the handset from a distance and know if close family and friends were calling.I can't do that anymore with this phone.
Other than these things, the phone--so far--is good and the answering machine is okay.I just hope that the number keys on the handset don't begin to stick again!

Panasonic KX-TG2357B 2.4 GHz DSS Cordless Phone with Dual Handsets, Answering System, and Talking Caller ID (Black) Review

Panasonic KX-TG2357B 2.4 GHz DSS Cordless Phone with Dual Handsets, Answering System, and Talking Caller ID
Average Reviews:

This Panasonic phone was a replacement for a previous 900MHz model that we'd had for a number of years.I checked out ratings for cordless phones at a leading consumer magazine's website, and Panasonic was by far the highest-rated manufacturer, though there are many fine brands of cordless phones.
What sets this model apart is the features included for a very reasonable price, especially the inclusion of a second handset. It's great to have what amounts to three phones in one, since the base unit includes a keypad of its own in addition to the handset it accomodates. The base has a speakerphone built in, as do the handsets, so you can work hands-free anywhere. The ability to plug in a headset to the handsets is also convenient, though I personally don't envision the need to do so.
The clarity of the sound is truly extraordinary, and one of Panasonic's main advantages. The Voice Enhancer technology is valuable in the event of a bad connection, but even without it the intelligibility is superb.
Another nice feature is the variable ring tones on the base unit as well as the handsets, including several melodies. You can also subscribe to a service where other melodies and tones are downloadable, but this seems a bit nonsensical. After all - it's a phone, not a stereo system!
The unit and the handsets are easy to operate, and the instruction manual is clearly written with plenty of diagrams.
You won't be disappointed with the KX-TG2357B - it's a great system, easy to use, great-sounding, and the price is right.
By the way, I didn't happen to purchase mine at Amazon, but wanted you to know that this is a fine product for your consideration.

Product Description:
The KX-TG2357B is a 2.4 GHz phone system that comes with a number of useful extras, including a second handset and integrated answering machine. By utilizing the 2.4 GHz frequency and digital frequency-hopping spread spectrum technology, the phone is able to offer clearer reception at greater distances than traditional analog and even many digital phones. Plus, Panasonic's Voice Enhancer technology helps to reproduce a wider frequency range than many other phones do, resulting in more intelligible speech.
Caller ID has a 50-number internal memory and audibly announces the name or number of the incoming caller. A 30-number internal phone directory allows you to store your most frequently used phone numbers, while a display-and-dial feature lets you scroll through either the directory or caller ID lists and call with the touch of a button.
Additional features include an all-digital answering machine with a new-call indicator, so you know when you have new messages waiting. An intercom/paging function allows you to communicate with other phones on the system, while speakerphones on both the base and handsets allows you to communicate hands-free. Illuminated handset keypads make dialing easy, even in the dark. Headset compatible, the KX-TG2357B also comes with a belt clip and is wall-mountable, keeping your countertop clear from extra clutter.

AT&T 1412 2.4 GHz Cordless Speakerphone with Caller ID Review

AT&T 1412 2.4 GHz Cordless Speakerphone with Caller ID
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
There may be better cordless phones but this had the right combo of required features that were hard to match in other products - it supports 2 lines, caller ID, has an alert light for phone company voicemail, had a keypad on both the base and the handset, speakerphone, etc. Also, it uses 2.4Ghz channel 1 and to date it hasn't conflicted with my two 802.11 Wi-Fi network access points running on channels 6 and 11.

The main annoyance so far is a loud clicking sound on the handset earpiece when a call comes in on the other line, even with the alternate line ringer turned off. If you get freequent calls on a secondary line that might be a consideration.

Caller ID with Phone Ring Controller Review

Caller ID with Phone Ring Controller
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this product for one primary reason - to block specific callers from ringing my phone. While this caller ID does have other fuctions, this was, for me, the only reason I purchased it.

Unfortunately, it failed at this job and even created other problems. Each time someone on the "blocked" list called the phone would ring for a fraction of a second.Doesn't sound bad, but it was.At times it was more jarring than having the phone ring normally. Also, at least once, one of the blocked callers got through. Not sure why that happened.

In order for this product to attempt to control who gets through and who doesn't it has to be the first thing connected to your primary phone jack. While that's logical, it also creates a problem that will be a negative for anyone with more than one phone. This caller ID blocked the ID information from being forwarded to my two phones. So the phone rings and the only way you'll know who's calling is to get up and look at the base unit that could be in another room or even on the other side of the house.Very inconvenient.

I used this caller ID for about a week and I knew it wasn't going to work.It barely did what it was supposed to and was more of a hassle than anything else.I contacted Smarthome, the Amazon distributor, and they were very courteous and took the item back and paid for the shipping back to them.I'd probably purchase from them again given how they handled the situation. But as for this product, I really can't think of anyone who would find it useful given its limitations.

AT&T 2-Line Corded Telephone with Caller ID and Speakerphone - 992
Average Reviews:

I bought two of these phones to replace some that were the same brand. The old phones worked well but their call waiting feature did not work everytime and you could not review the call list, it would only scroll foward, not in reverse. The new phones have a nicely lit display and the call list will work in both directions, but I have discovered that if you push the numbers too quickly, your call may not go through. The display will register that you hit the number but apparently it doesn't "dial" it. Pushing the buttons more slowly seems to correct the problem. The phones have a nice price and if you're not a high speed button pusher, they work well.

I have 8 TMC Phones in my home. 4 ET 4300 and the earlier model ET 4000.These phones are mostly the same except for cosmetics. The EV 4500 adds an auto attendant and voice mail but is otherwise the same phone. You might think it's crazy to have 8 of these in a home enviornment...but the flexibilty and usefulness of these phones is wonderful.I originally bought 2, then 2 more than 4 more. I have a home office, a mother-in-law, kids...and these phones have an outstanding intercome feature, music on hold, custom ringers (so I don't answer when it's for grandma), a built in directory available to all units...you can customize which phones ring on what lines, page the whole house...the features are easy and endless and I use most of them. The intercom feature alone, because its an auto answer intercome (meaning you can set it so you don't have to pick up the handset to answer) that alone makes it all worth it.Great for a small business; but the best feature is talking on the intercome while in the kitchen and cooking! The first 2 units I've had for 5+ years and they've all been reliable.Don't hesitate.Nice company too when you have a question.

AT&T White Trimline Telephone (1909) Review

AT&T White Trimline Telephone
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Very poorly designed. When you hold the receiver in your right hand, in a way that is natural for the average person, your fingers automatically hit the buttons they inconveniently placed on the outer side of the receiver. I was on the phone and hit the flash button repeatedly even though I was well aware the button was there and was trying to avoid it. You can't avoid it unless you want to put your hand in a very odd position, and get cramps. No kidding. In order to hold the receiver and not hit the flash button you have to cramp up your hand into an odd position and hope you don't drop the phone.

And you cannot place the phone on your shoulder to hold it, if you temporarily need to use both hands for something else. And, for those of us who still use an attachable shoulder cradle (a.k.a. shoulder rest), you cannot attach it to this phone due to the buttons on the outside of the receiver.

I don't want to be mean, but honestly, the person who designed this phone should be fired.

Outgoing sound was bad - the person I was talking to reported a hissing noise.

Incoming sound was actually good, but that does not make up for the fact that holding the phone, what should be the simplest thing to do, can't be done comfortably.

And just as an FYI - I've tried them all; VTECH 265, ATT 265, and ATT 1909

AT&T 265 - Trimline Telephone with Caller ID & Call Waiting

VTECH COMMUNICATIONS INC 265 WHT Trimline Telephone

and they are all the same design - don't get any of these if you want to be able to comfortably hold the phone, let it rest on your shoulder, or use a shoulder cradle (a.k.a. shoulder rest). See my photos of this ATT 1909 for an example of what I mean.

If you want a very simple corded phone I can tell you the ATT Trimline 230 has worked well for me for about 20 years. The 230 model is now called the AT&T Corded Trimline Phone with 13-Number Memory (210), slightly modified. I've just ordered some 210s, for my MagicJacks, and I'll be sure to review them, to see if they are as good as the 230s use to be.

Uniden DECT 6.0 Corded/Cordless Digital Answering System with Dual Keypad and Two Cordless Handsets
Average Reviews:

I purchased these phones to replace one with a few less features but was very good quality. My older developed a problem in the answering machine part. I shopped around looking for phones that had "speaker" phone capabilities on all of the units, the corded base and two cordless extensions. The phones offered the features I wanted but aren't very good quality with respect to sound or operation. The cordless phones have to stay reasonably close to the base or the received signal fades in and out. I'm not talking about taking it outside, I mean in the next room and within sight of the base. The speaker phone sound quality is fairly good on the base unit but marginal on the cordless units. That might be because of the issue of not working well when a little distance away from the base. It does have lighted keypads on the cordless phones, a nice feature that isn't on the base. The base does have a display screen that illuminates when the handset is picked up. All in all, the phones work alright, I was just a bit disappointed in the sound and distance issues. I tried to save a few dollars purchasing phones with a lot of nice features and they do have several nice ones. I could have spent more money and bought better qality but that's true of any product on the market.

Would I recommend this phone? Yes, if you have a limited budget and want to be frugal, buy it. It works and works dependably and I suppose that's all that matters. I am spoiled because it isn't quite as good as the one it replaced.

Panasonic KX-TG1062M DECT 6.0 Cordless/Corded Phone with Answering Machine With 4 Handsets Review

Panasonic KX-TG1062M DECT 6.0 Cordless/Corded Phone with Answering Machine With 4 Handsets

The Panasonic KX-TG106x (x = number of handsets included) phone system works very well, sound quality & volume are quite good. Batteries (uses 2) are a standard AAA rechargeable NiMh that can be upgraded from the included 630mah to Ray-O-Vac's 1000mah for under $11 (set of 4 batteries). With the 1000mah upgrade I get about a week of standard use between charges. Call blocking is fantastic, you can "input" up to 30 numbers you don't want to here from plus you can also select to block "private caller" or any other calls that do not contain an actual phone number. When a "blocked" call comes in, the phone will ring once (for caller ID information) then rejects call. On the receiving end the caller will get one ring then a busy signal. The only disappointment (although minor) is that you can not directly copy "phone book entries" between handsets, you have to send the "phone book" tothe base unit & then to the handsets. With a 100 entry phone book it is of more than adequate capacity. When the power goes out, the base reverts to a very basic telephone as there is no battery backup for advance functions such as caller ID or the answering machine. Range is very good at about 175'-200' from the base to place or receive phone calls. Along with remote message retrieval handsets allow erasing of messages. Both the main unit & charging bases are provisioned for wall mounting. With 15 user selectable ring tones & melodies to choose from most can find 1 that will meet their requirements. Simply put, I'm unaware of a more feature rich phone with this sound quality or capabilities.

ATT1070 - Business Phone Sys.,w/CID/CW,4-Line,Expandable,BK/WE Review

All features of this product are great, with the exception of one of the two primary reasons I bought it.I needed a 4 line speakerphone. The 4 lines work great, but the speakerphone hasn't worked on the original one I bought, then on the 2nd one I got when I returned the first faulty one.Apparently, the lack of a working speakerphone is a very common problem with this model with apparently no fix - so unfortunately, it is false advertising for AT&T to actually call this a "speakerphone".

Panasonic KX-TSC11W Corded Phone with Caller ID (White) Review

Panasonic KX-TSC11W Corded Phone with Caller ID
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I selected this phone in order to provide caller ID in our kitchen. Our phone is mounted in a part of the kitchen that does NOT have a nearby electrical outlet that most of Caller ID phones require. This one operates on two AA batteries and is simple and easy to use. The only drawback is that when the phone is mounted on a wall surface there is a space of about 1/4 inch between the phone and the wall that is a bit unsightly when viewed from the side, but this is not a serious drawback.

Product Description:
The corded design of this classic phone may look old-fashioned, but you'll be glad to have it on hand in the event of a power outage. You can place the base on a convenient surface or easily mount it on the wall, saving on counter space. A 50-number phone book lets you store your most frequently called numbers, and the 20-number redial allows you to easily resume interrupted conversations. With subscription to local service, the three-line LCD screen lets you know the name and number of callers--and stores up to 50 calls in its memory, that you can return at the touch of a button. The phone is white with a gray keypad. The KX-TSC11W comes with a one-year warranty covering parts and service.
