(More customer reviews)I've been looking for a multi-line corded phone for months, and thought I'd found what I wanted in the AT&T 992, which recently became available.It had all the features I was looking for, but the phone did not work reliably.I bought and returned three of them, all with a different problem.

I then decided to try this phone, the 974, even though it's a 4-line phone and I only need two lines.It has worked perfectly, and the overall quality is much better than the 992.I especially notice a difference in the sound quality.Unlike the 992, the line indicator buttons on this phone only illuminate when a line is in use, so it's much easier to see the activity on the lines.A big advantage of this phone over many others is that all the lines work in the event of a power outage.

I haven't used the conference feature yet, but all the other features--speakerphone, headset, caller ID, message waiting indicator, etc.--work as they should.

Four-line operation, intercom function, and conference calling help you easily manage call flow from several clients, colleagues, and customers at once. For the busy office environment, a built-in speakerphone and headset compatibility allow you to comfortably communicate hands-free.

(More customer reviews)I bought this set about 4 months ago.I love the phones.I love the fact that every time I put a number into the caller ID it saves it automatically to the other three regardless of which phone I am using. It is wonderful to have one phone jack and four phones anywhere I choose in my home.I had purchased another set previously and loved it but one of the phones did not work well from the moment I took it out of the box. I contacted them immediately about the defective phone. They chose to replace all phones rather than the defective one.I was not sure that was necessary but I can say they back their product 100% and without a hassle.They shipped me the new phones and then allowed me to ship the defective set back in the same boxes they provided for the new set.I am very pleased with the phones.I find it very easy to operate and make adjustments as necessary for each phone.You can even choose different ring tones for each individual phone.I would recommend this set to everyone needing multiple phones and needing a great product with great service behind you if you happen to need it.We have used V-Tech merchandise for a number of years.In twelve years, this is only the second set of phones I have needed to purchase.I would say that is outstanding service from a phone of any brand.Due to our outstanding service I will continue to come back to this brand of phones.

(More customer reviews)From reading some of the reviews I notice that some of you don't realize that a digital phone is not the same type of phone that you use at home an will NOT work on an analog signal which is what you have at home.Actually, a digital phone is not a phone at all but is in fact, a terminal which is programed via a computer. Digital phones operate exclusively with the use of a phone system such as IP-Office, Definity, etc. These types of systems use a digital signal to translate voice and data into legible information at a much faster pace as a stream of information running in a straight line.Analog data is basically an undulating sound wave, moving up and down and is much slower.A digital phone won't work in an analog environment and an analog phone won't work in a digital environment. They don't speak the same language.A phone system will typically have special analog cards as part of the system in order for faxes and modems to work in your office; these types of devices are almost always analog. The 6408-D (the "D" stands for digital) is a reliable, well built, user friendly, workhorse and is a great phone for any office using a digital voice/data system only. It is not a suitable phone for home use or even many small offices that typically have only a few telephone lines and will not work there.For that you will need a POT (plain ole telephone) that uses a POTS (plain ole telephone signal) yes, POTS means exactly that... I hope this mini phone lesson clears up some of the confusion.

(More customer reviews)Bought this to have a fax machine at home.It was easy to set up.Doesn't take up much space on the desk and you have a built in phone with caller ID, too.The copy machine part of fax makes nice clean copies, too.This wouldn't be very cost effective if you are going to receive a lot of faxes or make a lot of copies.It is great for someone like me who has to fax stuff for work occasionally and doesn't want to drive to the library and pay $2.00 a page.
