(More customer reviews)I bought this for my home office - we have 2 home lines, a fax/dsl and a business line.This phone pretty much does it all - you can answer each line with a different outgoing message, set up mail boxes for different people, and even have different lines ring on different handsets, or not ring at all (i.e. the fax).The range is very good (I can usually get it to go about 400 feet outdoors in a suburban neighborhood).The handsets are pretty much the same size as the Panasonic 2.4mHz standard.Battery life seems fine.
My biggest peeve is that you can't use 2 handsets on the same line at the same time (I guess that is what the extension is for) and that one of the four handsets we got refuses to work properly - something with the battery, but Panasonic has been pretty helpful.

phone system for the past few years, so now that we have
three lines this looked like just the right thing.
Unfortunately this system appears to have been designed by a
completely different team.The handsets are very large (too
large to fit into a pocket), the menus are more difficult to
use, the speed-dial feature is extremely clumsy, and the
signal quality is very poor, with lots of hissing in the
background.We've sent this one back and replaced it with a
two-line VTech 20-2431 system, which is much more like the
original 2431 and doesn't suffer from the problems of the
40-2421 series.

TalkSwitch 240vs 2 Lines 4 Analog/IP 12 IP Extension Small Business Phone System Review

(More customer reviews)We did a good amount of research before deciding on this system for our small company. Despite the low entry price, the features are packed with all we needed including auto-attendant and ring group. We have not tested it with heavy calls yet, but it has been running smoothly so far.

The configuration utility was fairly easy to understand and straight-forward. Our initial setup did take a couple of hours but a lot of it was setting up each extension and the groups. No complaints there...

Now to the part that wasn't so good:

The documentation is horrible. Although the set up was easy, it was because I was able to figure out the feature and the various configuration tools. The documentation for the product (both online and included with the product) are very basic, such as where to plug in the phone and how to check voicemail; Anything more detailed means you are on your own.

Unfortunately it got even worse when I had to call into their support. I have been calling them for the past two days with no success only to get their "Tech Support Voicemail Box". Despite numerous messages I have yet to hear from them. I even went as far as to call their Sales line (where they pick up all the time), but was quickly told by the lady that I don't really have any other option but to keep trying, wait or figure it out on my own.

So would I recommend it? Maybe if you are looking for a low cost solution, but don't expect TalkSwitch to be there once you give them your money.

By the way, still waiting for them to call...

This product easily connect to her existing RCA - 4 line Speakerphone with Call Waiting Caller ID (part # 25414RE3). The setup was simple to do using the enclosed instructions. There is a transmitter that slides into the back of the phone and the picture is the phone in its charger.

One draw back is that when the cordless phone is in use you can not use the base 4 line phone and vise versa. For us that was not a huge problem and it is working great in our office setting.

1.It will not let you record different messages on differentlines.This is especially important if you want to record a differentmessage for your home and home office numbers or for different familymembers.
2.You can not choose the default outgoing line.For example,if you have different long distance services on different lines and want tocall from your second number, you have to manually choose it by pressingthe second number.This is an even bigger problem if you want to use theauto redial feature, as it will automatically dial from the first number. The only way around that is to put the first number on hold before youpress the auto redial button.
3. If you are using the speakerphone on theAuto Attendant Unit (the unit chosen to answer calls and to run the voicemail system) and a call comes in, it will not ring on that Unit and thecaller will hear a continuous recording saying "Hello.Thank you forcalling.Your call will be answered shortly." Unless you see thelight on the Unit light up or hear another extension, your caller willremain in limbo until you hang up the speakerphone.
4. You can not turnon the Auto Attendant, and hence the Voice Mail, remotely.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this phone for my home office.I liked the ability to have access to all the lines (including my fax line) on one system.This system has excellent functionality based upon the attendant and call routing.It also has better range in our 4,500 sf house than the Siemens 2420 system, which only is only a two line phone (more later).This system has large programmable memory locations, intuitive interfaces on the extensions as well as the base station.
HOWEVER, the primary purpose for acquiring this phone was to use the base station as my primary office phone with the capability to roam throughout our three story house.As a base station, this system is severely lacking.Although the speaker phone is great, it has NO MUTE!If you participate in conference calls, you need a headset with a mute switch to have an offline discussion or even sneeze.Also, using two friends as guinea pigs, the sound quality was pitiful on two different units of this same model thinking it was a fluke. According to my unscientific testing, the sound quality of the cordless handsets was poor as well. Finally, the handsets are huge.While the antenna makes the range a little better, it is a large unit that makes me feel like I have a Motorola Brick phone next to my head.Ergonomics are not Panasonic's strong suit, but the lit keypad is nice for using in the dark (although I prefer doing other things than dialing someone while in the dark).
I tried these units in direct comparison to the Siemens 2420.I've never been a VTech fan and didn't even consider them.The Brother was too cumbersome so I excluded it too.So, based upon my personal, andtime consuming, experiences, I chose the Siemens because it had better sound and, of all things, a mute button for the base.The range of the Siemens compared to the Panasonic may not be great and I had to replace the NiMH with Li batteries, but taken as a whole I liked the Siemens better.
If Panasonic had put a mute button on the base of this system, I would have kept it in spite of the sound differences.Funny how one litte feature made my decision.

(More customer reviews)I purchased four of these phones for a small business customer of mine to replace the outdated Panasonic phones they had. The 4-line model ET-4300 is very well made except for the handset. After two initial blunt force traumas by employees, the handset didn't survive, prompting me to find a replacement handset. TMC's Customer Support line leaves much to be desired. Call them and they'll call you back, maybe. The two stars are for fragile components in the handset, and very slow customer support response.

(More customer reviews)I bought this accessory handset for my 25424RE1 phone as an additional extension for use with the base. However I found out that only the base or the cordless handset can be used at one time, i.e. you can not be talking on the base on 1 line and be talking on the handset on the other. You can not even talk on the same line with the base and the handset at the same time. In other words, when you pick up the cordless handset it locks out the base so you can not dial anyone.

This is a very bad design for a phone, who would have 4 lines and have a need to only use one at a time? I called Thompson and they have confirmed the design.

I'll be returning this today.

Easy to use, cheap, and have big system features like intercom, page, hold, LCD display, etc.Phone systems cost thousands of dollars for the same features.
Don't fall for the big system hype. Have these installed and save yourself alot of money!

(More customer reviews)I was a bit iffy about buying this phone, but for the price and what it offered you could not find a better deal out in the market. After receiving the phone and seen what it offered I was amazed. I mean its not every day anyone would buy a RCA product when there a lot better brands out there. I couldn't help noticing on the phone has the label, ViSYS who maked the phone for RCA.

Every 4 line phone out in the market was well over $200. This phone is great for a home business that has no more then 4 lines. I love the looks and color of the display and what it offers. The sound is amazing, and the best part is running as many as 16 wireless handsets or headsets to the phone. The quality in hardware is very good so you can tell the phone and the buttons on the phone are very strong and sturdy and meant to last.

(More customer reviews)We have had this phone system for almost 2 months, and we are very impressed. It is a big improvement over our similar Panasonic 4-line system, which we were happy to get rid of when we recently moved offices (poor sound quality, the '1' buttons went dead on several of the handsets, and the battery life was not good). This phone has extra bells a...Read Morend whistles that our Panasonic did not. One of the greatest features I like is that the handsets have speakerphone capability (not just the base station), it can record phone calls (the other person will hear a beep), and another employee can join in on a phone call in progress just by holding down the specific line key from their handset (or base) (and a person can put the call into privacy to disallow this feature, per call), and lots more neat features, such as Push to Talk and Intercom.

The base unit and handsets are also better looking than our Panasonic system, and the back-lighting is much, much better. Oh, and a REALLY GREAT feature that we now have is MUSIC ON HOLD!!!! We are not on a PBX system (so we save lots of money!), so with our old Panasonic system, if we put somebody on hold, it was just silence for them, so I always had to tell them that they will "hear silence" (oxy-moron!). If I didn't, many callers would think that they got disconnected. With this AT&T system, callers automatically have music on hold -and better yet, we have the ability to put whatever 3-minute sound-byte we want on there (music or a personal message from the company president, etc.) and change it as often as we want, as the phone will connect to your computer or cd player or radio (anything with a 3.5mm audio jack), or use a headset to talk right into the machine to record the 3-minute loop.

I really like the speaker function on the handsets. I don't like to wear headsets, so if I am on hold on a call, I like to press "speaker" and then set the phone down so I have my hands free so I can better multi-task. When the caller comes on, then I just hit the speaker button again to take it off speakerphone. I have found, as is common with speakerphones, that they are not great to use if you have background noise, but it is handy for allowing others around you to hear your call, or like I mentioned, to set it down while on hold.

Setup was a BREEZE! I got the base station and the 4 handsets all set up and registered in about 10 minutes. This included personalization of adding a name to each phone on the screen for ID, setting a special ring tone for our line 2 calls, and other options.

The reception RANGE is OUTSTANDING! We could only go about 35 feet with our Panasonic system, but this one goes the distance! I just took it for a walk and walked out of our building, through the long parking lot and across the street, without even a crackle! Superior! And that is without the DECT extender, which I am told would allow us to go another 300 feet (which we would never need, but still impressive!). I was confused about whether to buy the DECT accessory unit on Amazon becuase I was not sure if we needed the DECT unit with the phone system, so I called AT&T, and they explained that it doubles your range. I figured I would first test the range after getting the phone system to see if we needed it, and as I mentioned, found that we don't need it.

I cannot provide a review of the built in voicemail feature, because we do not use it. We use our phone company's voicemail so that we can get voicemails via our email or retrieve our voicemails online. I also do not use the Auto Attendant, as we like to answer our calls personally, but it does seem like a handy feature.

Overall, I am very impressed with this sturdy unit, and feel I made the best choice for our new phone system. Amazon had the best price, and with free shipping, and we received it quickly. I was at first hesitant to buy it because the few prior reviews were not as favorable as I had hoped, but one review had to do with setup issues, which I don't think was an issue with the phone, but how their phone lines were set up. I had no issues at all (but we did have a local phone installer come pair the lines for us (line 1/2 and 3/4, as would be necessary anyway.
